When you got your proofs back, were there pictures from the cocktail hour? I just got my proofs back and there is not one picture during the cocktail hour. I thought this was very odd.

We didn't have any either. Our photogprapher spent most of the time taking our pictures outside.
I wouldn't expect too many pictures from the cocktail hour - the bride and groom are typically not there or they are walking around, not too many people would want a picture of food, the guests are all mingling.

OK, here is my situation. I was at the ENTIRE cocktail hour. My photographer decided to take me out for an hour during my reception so I am wondering where she was for an hour during the cocktail hour.
I was at my entire cocktail (or almost...I think 1 hour out of 1 1/2) and there are just a handful of pics...but to be honest...they are not necessary...i am happy that my photog focused on other parts of the day

I had a few from my cocktail hour. I liked looking at them since I wasn't there but truthfully I am not going to include any in my alblum.

I do have photos of some of the details at the cocktail hour and a few of the whole thing and a few of us chatting but comparitively speaking not many. I think the reasons are:
-IMO cocktail hour rarely makes for good photos since its usually random people massed together around the pasta station, etc.. -My photographers took some shots in the library during the cocktail hour - My photographers took some photos of the reception room details before people got in the reception room - I think vendors traditional eat their meal during the cocktail hour. I cant say for sure since I didnt watch them eat but I encouraged them to get a bite to eat and paid for their meal so I hope they did.

None here. I was only in my cocktail hour for 10 minutes if even that. My video has my cocktail hr. on it.

I got none of the cocktail hour- thank god my videographer got some nice shots- or else I would never have seen my cocktail hour at all!!

Not my vendors .. they ate when we ate!
We didn't have photos from the cocktail hour either .. but on our day .. it was raining .. after the ceremony, we went up to the photographer's studio for portraits to be taken (since we couldn't do outdoor shots).
When we arrived to John Anthony's, our photographer had beaten us there .. but it was already about 20 minutes into the cocktail hour. We quickly ran down to the bridal suite .. then went up to the cocktail hour til nearly the end.
We did have a bunch of photos of the set-up of the reception room, though.
Cocktail hour rooms are generally pretty crammed .. I'd agree that they wouldn't make for great photo ops .. however, it would be nice to have photos of the set-up .. but I guess in general .. most couples aren't even in the building for a portion of the cocktail hour .. nevermind prior to the start, when it would be best to get set-up photos .. most often .. the couple is out with the photographer doing the outdoor shots.

We were signing the ketubah during the cocktail hour, that's why we have no photos of it, but a portion of the food is captured on video before people showed up.

I don't have any from the photographer but that was b/c he was with me in Old Westbury Gardens
My girlfriends took Cocktail hour pics for me, and Shamma made sure she got the entire spread

I don't think that I have any pics as well from the cocktail hour. Maybe just one or two of me and my husband feeding a little something to each other becauase the manager at the reception gave us a tour of how the food was setup and my photographer probably took one or two photos. I don't really need pics of my cocktail hour beacause it's all on video the food, the guests and then some clips of us greeting guests. The thing I loved is that we had so much time to do the pictures that I actually got to dance at my wedding...I only had to step out one to do 2 family group shot photos and that's it. We did all our pictures before the cocktail hour started. Then of course we did the usual pictures throughout the night of us dancing, cutting the cake, me dancing with my dad and him dancing with his mom and other moments but I had a great time at my own wedding....
So the cocktail pictures are not really necessary in my opinion.

I only have one from the cocktail hour and it was because we had bag pipers so I made them take one. I was a little annoyed as well because I felt like the cocktail hour was so mcuh fun and it would have been nice to have some picts of people hanging out!
