One is for DH's cousins Eparty. DH is not close to this cousin at all & when we got engaged he didn't even send a card or say congratulations when he saw us. Its also at Russos on the bay so we would have to give a pretty generous gift ( dh always makes sure he at least covers his plate) The other weird thing is they have already been engaged for 2 years and they are just now having this party out of no where.
The other one is for a 'Wedding celebraton' for one of DH's college buddies. The couple is already married - got married in Italy a few months ago and this is the party for everyone who could not make it ( we were invited but could not attend with our wedding being so close) Very very low key wedding celebration.. I dont think its even in a hall. But I have never even met these people and DH hasnt seen his friend in a few years.. they keep in touch through email. ( He moved to Italy to be with his girlfriend)
One is on a friday and the other is Sunday of that same weekend so there is no way we can make it to both.
DH is not sure what he wants to do. One is family & one is an old friend he hasnt seen in awhile

Where would you have more fun? Sounds like you're pissed at his cousin for the way he treated you both.
So, I think you'd have more fun at the college buddy's party!

Thats exactly it. I just feel obligated since its his family. At least they came to our wedding and gave a generous gift ( of course thats going right back when they get married in 07)
Not really pissed at his cousin but they got engaged at around the same time... I dunno he was always a little weird to me. Maybe he said congrats to DH and not me

That's your answer right there... you still have at least 2 more opportunities to celebrate, congratulate, and give a gift to the cousin (bridal shower possibly, and wedding). But your DH hasn't seen this friend in awhile and they are already married. I would go to the wedding.

I agree with this 100%. Go to the friend's party.

I agree. This is also where my little white lies come in. If pushed by the family, I would simply say you RSVPed to the other first and can't back out. And if you respond to them first, you aren't really lying....
