Every holiday is a HALLMARK holiday. Do you think in 1852 when people celebrated Easter they thought of bunnies and eggs? No, they thought of a man on a cross. Let's not even get into the Santa thing.
If you have a vendetta on HALLMARK holidays - then every single day should be the same as the one before and not a single one of them can be special. You know what? Let's get rid of weekends too - too special.
What's the big deal with celebrating a special day to break up the monotony of life and remind you to LOVE those around you?

That's because Hallmark wasn't around in 1852 to crown the term!

I agree - nothing's wrong with having a special day to show how much you love each other. I think I only didn't like Valentine's Day when i didn't have somebody to love lol. But I still didn't consider it a 'Hallmark Holiday' like many others do. Wasn't there even a St. Valentine way back when??? I'll have to google it later, i could swear there was.

dh calls v-day that all the time & it annoys me too- i agree with you tilde, any holiday that celebrates loving other people is a good one- there is so much negative in the world, something positive is nice

i agree Tilde! yes, things have gotten very commercial but it shouldnt take away from the true meaning of the holiday.
it really gets on my nerves when people say holidays are stupid. like you said, it is nice every once in a while to stop and remember what we have and who we spend our lives with..to be thankful and to celebrate all the little joys in life!

Exactly! I am not saying to get each other $1000 presents and dress up as Cupid and drop $200 on dinner. . . just a little extra attention!
