Just thought I'd share for anyone else whose ever had this problem. I made chocolate chip cookies for DH last night and whenever I put them in the tupperwares to keep them, they get hard by the next morning. So, I read something on LIF that said to put a peice of bread in the tupperware with the cookies to keep them soft...so I tried it. OMG those cookies are so moist and delicious today! How do people figure these little tricks out??

Re: I tried this and it worked!
it TOTALLY works!!! i make chocolate chip cookies every year around the holidays (along with a million other types of cookies) and they stay fresh a ton longer when you put a piece of bread in with them. the cookies suck all the moisture out of the bread so they stay soft and delicious!

Do the cookies have to be touching the bread?

not really, you just put the bread in the container. it will be touching some of the cookies, but somehow, the moisture leaves the bread and goes into all of the cookies, not just the ones that are touching the bread.

yep -- I put the bread on the top of the container and even the cookies on the bottom are soft (but the bread is hard as a rock now, haha).

That's so interesting... I am going to have to try that..
Its like adding a piece of paper towel or napkin on top of lettuce in the tupperware when you take it to work for lunch and it keeps it crispy!!!

Yesssss....my mom taught me that years ago and its amazing how that works. I keep my lettuce in a tupperware in the fridge with paper towels between the leaves. It keeps it so crispy and fresh for every salad I make!

I do that too and it works great. If you change the bread when it gets hard (like every 3 days) the cookies will stay fresh for over a week.
