Re: I wanted to go to the melting pot
what stinks is that it really has nothing to do with them being 'fully booked up' -- many times it because they don't have enough wait staff there to tend to the tables since they have to do so much with the ingredients and such.
i've been there twice and each time we had to be squeezed in for our reservation--and when we got there - the restaurant had MANY open tables and the waiter told us about the water availabililty ratio to tables.

The Melting Pot is my favorite restaurant for many years...my friends and I used to take road trips to NJ and PA just to eat there lol. DH and I went for V-day but he made the res over a month ago. When I got the email (sign up for emails and they send you a free choc fondue certificate!!) I sent it to him and told him I wanted to be surprised I was told the same thing about the ratio of waitstaff to tables...

its about the same as melting pot
but the way they do it is you can do the big night out dinner for the both of you, which includes cheese fondue of your choice, salad of your choice, then the dinner which is a broth of your choice and 9 entree's of your choice plus your choice of chocolate fondue. It is $48 per person and then of course extra if you get drinks

I WENT TO THE melting pot a week ago, all the food (entrees) are UNCOOKED, u have to cook them your self (boil them) in some broth. the desserts are good, and so was the appetizer. The food main course, pretty much suU*cked i thought. JMO...it is an experience, but i doubt i would ever go back for food

Yea i agree, they put raw meat on your table And they charge you a fortune and they do not even have a kitchen. I know this because someone i know went there and basically flipped out when they brought raw meat on his table, and he told them to take it back and cook it and they told him he couldnt cause there is no kitchen.
I liked it for dessert and appetizer but honestly its so overpriced for cheese and bread and a few veggies Its really pathetic, the novelty wore off pretty fast for me.

Re: I wanted to go to the melting pot
yeah the meat does come to your table uncooked, well thats bc its fondue and how its supposed to be. With fondue you cook the stuff so its raw when it comes to your table and you use the fondue sticks to put it in the broth and let it cook. Honestly wouldnt be fondue if t came to your table cooked. If this is something you dont want to do then yeah i wouldnt go to a fondue place. DH and i like it so we dont mind. But any place whether its fondue resaurant or not, if you order a fondue dish its done the same way. We went to Ninja, which is not a fondue place but japanese restaurant but there is one fondue dish on there. They brought out the burner for my friend who ordered it along with the beef which came out raw and she had to cook it in the broth.
I do have to say that i never cared for the entree's at melting pot that much. I do prefer simply fondue's entree's. I like cheese better at melting pot bc they have a spinach fondue which i like. Dessert hmmm i think i'll have to give that to simply fondue also.

which one do you go to?
i have to say that when i had only went to melting pot, i never really liked the entree's, i went just for the cheese and chocolate basically. But simply fondue has real good entree's. I LOVE the stuffed mushrooms they do mmmm, where you put the sourcream mix in the mushroom and then dip it in the batter and then in the broth, its so good and the coconut shrimp is awesome.
