i would like thoughts on this..... (with poll)

so - most of you are my friends on FB... you know what my current profile pic is.... let me start out by saying that i keep my profile private so you have to be my friend to see my pics, profile, info etc

so im friends a few people from my job on FB... not my bosses or anything... just co-workers that im pretty friendly with.... so one of the classroom teachers came into my office before and was like 'does your last name begin with an L' and i was like 'yeah' and he was like 'oh b/c so-and-so found your facebook profile and didnt believe it was you b/c of your profile pic' so now aparently, there is all this chatter about my profile pic

so i explained that it wasnt like a 'oh im so hot look at my asss' type thing - it was just a cool pic i took of me being covered with sand from St Maarten so thats why i made it my profile pic

ANYWAYS - my question to YOU Ladies - should i change the pic or not?

Thats ridiculous. Its no ones business what your profile pic is and its not inappropriate. Your profile is private anyway. Tell them to get over it.

I think its fine, b/c first of all, the photo is upside down and it takes me a minute to figure out what it is. Its like a fun puzzle game.

I am torn. Depending on the type of industry you are in. I am in accounting so its very very formal BUT I would never even accept anyone that I work with or do business with on my friends list. I listed my name so only friends could find me.

If you dont care about office gossip then leave the picture. If it is something that you don't want to deal with then change it. AND edit your privacy settings so none of those people can see your updates or your albums.

see, im torn too... i dont work in a highly professional place... its a school for MR/DD adults so its VERY casual and everyone is on FB.... but i dont really interact much with the classroom teachers - i usually just stay within the clinic departent regarding who i am friendly with

so on one hand, yeah i dont want to be the center of everyone's conversation - but on the other hand, my profile pic doesnt really matter in those terms b/c if you remember a while back, i found out that i'm known as 'barbie b*tch' among some of the staff.... so i feel like if its not this, it will be something else

im just concerned NOW over who IS my friend on FB and how my profile pic comes off... i was just something so innocent for me i didnt even think twice... now im second guessing myself.....

I thought the pic was cute and didnt think anything negative of it to be honest with you. It is not sleezy and quite frankly anyone on a beach would see you like that.

Keep the pic, they needed new ammunition on Barbie B*tch anyway

That just means that the person told them to do a search for your name. Gossipers I highly doubt that they would randomly scroll through your coworkers friends list.

so im a total p*ssy and just changed it... i would have been freaking out over this situation if i hadnt.... thanks for you advice girls!!!

I have seen the picture & its not at all 'bad' professionally- however, if it were me, I wouldnt post it- once one person finds your picture and sees that and feels the need to comment on it- its gonna spread like wildfire

imo its hard enough to be a woman in the professional world without others judging you and even though it sux I dont want that to happen to you

i hate people. Simple as that.

Last year I filled out a bulletin survey and was very sarcastic in it (which I just am by nature). I had written something stupid, like when it asked if I was working - since I was unrightfully 'let go' at one job with no explanation, I had just answered 'Nope. Thanks ____' (fill in the superintendents first name, but not his last or the place of business). Well this stupid woman read it, printed it out, and gave it to the boss and it started up all kinds of drama, even tho I wasn't even working there anymore It was easy to find out who did it since my page was set to private and needless to say I confronted her and deleted the b!tch from my page. What's the purpose? And I still didn't delete the post, in fact I continued to fill out more of them (just tried to ease up on the sarcasm a bit).

So from MY OWN experience, I'm pisssed off readying that somebody would even mention the picture to you. They're jealous of your @ss and want to start up crap for no reason other than that they're bored pathetic people. I wouldn't give in. If it's not detrimental to your job, then leave it up. I hate it when people try to push me around, as I'm sure you do as well
