If you have to answer the phone at work

Do you happen to get really rude solicitors once you tell them your just not interested
Or the same ones just won't stop calling day after day

Both. there is one guy who calls all the time and once or twice got NASTY with me because my company owes his ALOT of money..long story.'

Anywho I get the lovely task of fielding these calls. Soooooo he starts screamign at me for the 5th time and I just hung up. Mind you I work for mega rich people and they have mega rich clients BUT I KNEW this guy was a sales guy AND he was rude. He literally called me for a month straigth every day cussing me out.

So he calls back, i do my polite greeting an he starts cussing me out. I politely say (in my flight attendant voice) 'Wrong answer. Please try again sir.'

When he called back the third time I went all forsty teacher/momma on him lmao. I remeber this 'speech: because I posted it to a friend when it happened lmao. I am copying from that email.

'Sir I UNDERSTAND that you have a job to do which involves getting money from my company. I understand your pain-its a s*cky job and you have to do it, but PLEASE do not take this out on me. I only answer the phones and cannot make men worth $$$ answer if they do not wish to. I am a referee not a zookeeper.

FURTHERMOREI think you fail to understand 2 important things that are now obstabcles in your path. 1. My bosses will not answer their phones therfeore they hired ME to do it and field calls. 2. You were RUDE to me and now you have gone and made me show my colors. The keeper of the gate is PISSED OFF which means you will hang up this phone and call me back with a smile on your face and an apology on your lips or you will find yourself lost in the labryitnth of my phone line till the next YTK crisis. DO I make myself clear?'

I got a lot of stuttering and stammering and I hung up again. NOW when the jerk calls....SOOO polite.

Re: If you have to answer the phone at work

Wow that is some story Jenn.
I don't have those type of calls coming in just all calls for the company to invest. blah blah blah.
They always want to speak to the 'Man' in charge.
Like there is no possible way that a Woman could own the company!!!mad:

Than I tell them I am in charge of make those decisions and they tell me how can I be I am 'just' the receptionist
Which I am totally NOT I really am in charge of those kinds of decisions in how money is spent.

So this one guy got so mad he just keep calling on everyline and would just sit there and not say a word. Every other minute
His calls come in 'UNBELIEVABLE'
so I can't do anything about it!!!

Today an Indian man called me this is the third time this week that I should talk to his manager to change our health insurance plan. When I told him he called me already the other x's and said I was not interested he just hung up on me mid Sentence!
Jerk jerk jerk

It is just so frustrating dealing with MORONS.

I got a call, everyday from a rep. @ careerbuilder.com. Finally he emailed me & I said something to the effect that he was a moron. Well...it got back to my boss & I got in HUGE trouble (written up) I was SO pissed!

Re: If you have to answer the phone at work

LOL Jenn-yea I get those two. We have abotu 60 lines. I answer them ALL. Yet people will not like my answer about sales choices about copiers and printers (I read from the script the company gave me to tell them to buzz off) and they cuss me out, hang up then call again.

Usually it takes them 3 calls before they realize its me again. One woman actually BADMOUTHED me to myself and I let her go and she said 'I am so happy to talk to someone pelasant' and I said 'Well thank you. I will tell my alter ego to be ncie to you next time you call. I geuss we were havign a bad day.'

She hung up.

TG our calls go thru the receptionist who screens, but once in a while I do get a computer calling.

I just leave the receiver on my desk, don't even bother putiing it on hold.

At home I do the same thing when solicitors call, just leave the phone sitting on the table.
If they keep calling back, then I just bang the mouthpiece on the table a couple of times or drop the phone. That usually does the trick.
