If you're happy and you know it...

bomb Iraq...

just thought this was funny...but the poster doesn't share any of the same views as the song...[disclaimer]

Sing Along!

'If You're Happy And You Know It, Bomb Iraq'

If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets are a drama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are frisky,
Pakistan is looking shifty,
North Korea is too risky,
Bomb Iraq.

If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq.
If we think that someone's dissed us, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.

It's pre-emptive non-aggression, bomb Iraq.
To prevent this mass destruction, bomb Iraq.
They've got weapons we can't see,
And that's all the proof we need,
If they're not there, they must be, so
Bomb Iraq.

If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam's gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
And he tried to kill your dad,
Bomb Iraq.

If corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And hiding that ain't easy,
And your manhood's getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.

Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq.
For our might knows not our borders, bomb Iraq.
Disagree? We'll call it treason,
Let's make war not love this season,
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

Truthfully I don't find this funny at all Erica- not a personal jab, but rather the 'song' theme is not funny. Hundreds if not thousands of every day Iraq citizens will die. They are the people that Saddam has terriorized over the past 12+ years. They work in schools, sell grocery, repair cars, birth babies, sweep streets. The military power of Iraq will be safe and sound, eating a nice meal with the radio on. The citizens will be without medical supplies, food supplies, fresh water. We will destroy their homes, their families, their lives AND the Iraq gov't will be just fine. Did you know that 50% of Iraq citizen's are under the age of 18 years old? There is a very good chance Saddam will kill many citizens to 'blame' the US. And this says nothing about the fact that our soliders will also get hurt. Already soliders have died in training missions. Can you imagine when bombs go off and bullets are flying. And don't forget about the chemicals that many of our troops faced in the Gulf War. Many are still sick.
So, I am not a fan of songs that make light of what will be happening.

With all due respect...aren't these reasons you listed, reason enough for us to go in and get this son of a @!@#$ out of power for once and for all? Our military actions have always had a humanitarian side, and I don't think Bush was giving us lip service when he said that the Iraqi people would get food, medicine, and other neccessities during this war. We've always done this and now is no exception. They will be getting more from us during war than they get from their own 'leader' on a daily basis.

We took out Hitler...we'll take out this one..and our nation, Iraq, and other nations will be much better off without him. The blood of American soldiers has been spilled many a time in the name of world safety, and now is no exception. I hate this idea, and I hate the fact that this has to happen...who the hell would want it to? But for sake of my future children's safety and life....I say go in and get the son of a b. Think about if we hadn't done it many times before this...everyone in France would likely be speaking German, and there probably wouldn't be a jewish person left on earth.

As for the song, this is political satire at it's best....I'm not offended, I just look at it as the first in a loooong line of things we'll see in the weeks to come....

I've already taken this further than I wanted to. I just wanted to get my opinion out there...I guess to just let it out!

I think this is hysterical!!

Injecting a little satire into something does not make the actual subject matter less serious.

This is my favorite verse

If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam's gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
And he tried to kill your dad,
Bomb Iraq.

I think this is funny and I don’t know why. Probably because I am a nervous wreck with all that’s going on – I am so giddy with fear….

The words go against my beliefs, but I can certainly recognize the humor in it, and that song always tickles me!

I think it's funny - obviously a joke about a very serious issue we're all dealing with in our own way.....

I find it a little humerous too. I guess we have to have some sort of satire here in order to get through this ordeal.

I thouhght the song was funny, not the situation, but what are we going to do about it?? what can we do, not a darn thing, so we have to make the best of it. They say we have a democratic form of gov't, but for some strange reason I do not feel like we had a say in this at all Its like if Bush say war, its war, no matter what the people feel. We are the ones that will feel the reprecussions, has he even thought about this???

Thanks for posting the song Erica, I got it and I did not share it here, b/c I did not care for all the negative responses that might have come along with it, which I could care less for.

Michele...I'm sorry if you were offended...that was not my intent...I just wanted to add a little light to the situation...

I do realize the state that the Iraqi people are living in...and I feel for them...believe me I think about it everyday...

the point of the 'song' is more a jab at our own governments actions...it's not against the Iraqis...

I think I have expressed in my posts that I am opposed to the way GWB is handling things...

Erica, you do not have to defend the song, you did not write it, you only posted it.

I am not offended. I am more sad that people will die and it will not be the people who supported the 9/11 attacks. It will be people just like you and me. That just upsets me.

Re: If you're happy and you know it...

I think we all need some humor in our lives right now. The war is inevitable and we need to be reminded of the good reasons we are going to war. I know many will die in this war and I am quite saddened by it. I wish this would never happen, but if we don't do this, Saddam will just take more advantage of us and so will others. By going to war, we will utimately protect billions more people from the weapons that saddam has and his tyrany. Please don't take this as I'm all for war, it's actually the complete opposite. I do wish this would not happen.

God bless all those involved in this horrible act. Let's hope for quick peace!
