gotten your hair cut by cosmetic students rather than at an actual salon??
I've been getting so irritated with the lack of hair salons out here in Colorado and I really really need something done with my hair. DH suggested his college where the graduating students do it. I've heard of this, but have never actually done it. I figured it couldn't hurt to try tho - especially since I don't want anything drastic - just an inch or two and I'll be watching very carefully. lol.
So I made my appointment for tomorrow and then found out that they only charge $5 That made me nervous. Maybe they're not really good at all. eh. I'm scared now. My hair is REALLY important to me. I look like crap if it's too short so now I'm afraid to risk it.
What do you think? Have you guys ever been to something like this that was sooo cheap??

my sister used to do this all the time in college and she never had a problem- she always went with a very basic style and tried to not make it too complicated

that's how I am. I love the way my hair is now, it's just looking 'dead' to me. So just a touch up really. I'm serious when I say that i'll be WATCHING those scissors like a hawk. lol.

oh wanted to add- they usually have professionals there too- so god forbid something wasnt perfect- they will fix it- so no worries! post pictures for us when you get back

They obviously do it just for the practice on a human head. I think if you tell them you just want an inch or two off, they wouldn't have a problem. I mean, this is what they are going to school for, if they haven't mastered a trim by now, I would say that maybe they wouldn't have advanced this far???? No? Yes?

i went to beauty school back in the day and used to have clients come in and id do their hair.......loved doing color and hated doing haircuts....always so nervous to cut hair....i still am, and that is why i never got a chair when i was working in the hair salon - too afraid
i wouldnt worry, when i was in school id let my classmates do my hair all the time....
if its nothing crazy you'll be fine!!

correct - when i was in school there were teachers out on the floor - if you needed help they were there watching over and were able to assist you....
where i went to school it was the clients who were gross the students were ok - and everyone held their own - it was the nasty sceevy clients we'd get

lol. Probably because you guys were doing it for close to nothing. So the people coming are the ones who can't afford to get their hair cut, let alone wash it. hehe. jk.
Anyway, even tho i never even considered going to one of those before - it's worth a try. The Salons I have been to out here aren't anything to brag about. My hair barely even looks different afterwards. So i'm willing to see how this one goes.

I have curly hair so I wouldn't trust it. But, you have straight hair and like the girls said as long as its a simple cut you have nothing to worry about.

thanks girls! I'll definitely give it a try. Like I said, I just need about an inch or two taken off. It's layered and I'm sure they can handle that kind of cut (at least I HOPE! lol)

i use to get my hair cut by students all the time. it was free and they did an awesome job. it was through maximus at the source.

I have been to the Vidal Sasoon School of hair twice for hair cuts - once in the advanced school and once in the new-student school and both times had an awesome hair cut and awesome color!!! It was £5 pounds or so (in London) and the teachers were right there watching both times!

yea, it was mostly all old people, like really old - and when people get that old they stop taking caring of themselves ugh gross everyone would love when someone young came in!
