you guys crack me up Sorry, but this is the last romantic, couple only vacation DH and I will probably have in about 18-20 years

It's bad enough DH wanted to bring his laptop! I married a workalcholic....but maybe I can convince him to take a few long breaks

We were just there in December for our HM and we stayed at the Marriott...they didn't charge us anything for reserving a palapas...you just gotta do it either the night before or VERY early in the morning...

I hear such conflicting info on the Marriott!! This was all from an Aruba website similiar to Fodors...everyone was up in arms about it and for what?!

You're able to reserve the beach umbrellas the night before? Do they ever run out? That's good to know - I'm SO not getting up at 7 AM just to reserve a chair!

And what about the pool area? Does that section ever get crowded?

Yes, they do run out of the beach umbrellas (palapas)...so, when you're there, go over to where you get the towels and ask to reserve the palapas there.

As far as the pool area, we always got loungechairs wherever we wanted...and even some days we moved around a bit. The pool area is HUGE...you really shouldn't run into any problems.

MAKE SURE YOU EAT AT SIMPLY FISH...IT'S THE BEST RESTAURANT IN ARUBA...IMO...AND IT'S RIGHT ON THE MARRIOTT'S BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO ROMANTIC!!!

I ATE THE SHRIMP COCKTAIL (BEST I'VE EVER HAD) AND THE LOBSTER TAIL!!! MY MOUTH IS WATERING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

Stacedz...we took that pic at Moomba Beach...it was a palapa bar right on the beach...awesome view and good drinks too!!!

HOWEVER, IT WAS VERY VERY VERY BUGGY HERE...Aruba had gotten a lot of rain a few days before we got there (weird, but true...they had an 'tropical storm'...the entire island was flooded 2 days before we got there)...so they said that because of this rain, they were having problems with the mosquitos.

But, we were able to stay there until the sun went down...then we hightailed it out of there!!!

Thanks for all the info Jennifer! We plan to spend a lot of our time by the pool but will definitely reserve the umbrellas the night before for the beach.

I've already made reservations at Mirandi's and Flying Fishbone....I heard great things about Simply Fish but I don't eat any fish DH does though

You made reservations for flying fishbone? Now i am REALLY jealous!!!!

Jen - I guess that's a good place then? I got all my research info (the incorrect info on marriott too!) from: Aruba They post a ton of helpful info and many people raved about that place.

El Gaucho seems really good too so we'll probably hit that up as well
