I'm selling my wedding dress

I'm selling my wedding dress

And it's bittersweet!

I've decided that I am definitely going to sell my gorgeous beloved wedding gown....

It made me so happy, I feel like it could make someone else's dreams come true too.

And I feel like it's so sad living in a hanger on a garment bag....I would hate to see it just live in a box the next 50 years.

I posted on the 11 boards as wellas BHB..

And I think I'll post it on preownedweddingdresses.com too.

I think I need a hug.

Re: I'm selling my wedding dress

It is VERY sad... I know firsthand since I just sold mine on preownedweddingdresses as well... I posted it back in Sept... had a few bites.. then someone offered me $400 and I told her to take a hike LOL ... And about 2 weeks after that, I sold it for my asking price of $800 (about half of what it cost me)!!

The buyer just got the dress yesterday and said the fit was perfect and that it was beautiful so im thrilled that it can make another lucky bride happy KWIM?? It felt like what it might feel like to put a child up for adoption... Yes, its only a dress... something materialistic but I shed some tears packing it up and shipping it out...

Bottom line is she's happy, im happy so its a win-win situation

I am thinking about just donating mine. I love it but I always figured its kinda a waste just sitting in a box....

Congrats!!!! It will make some one else just as happy!!!

That's a nice idea to sell it to make someone else happy. I'm hoping that one day I have a baby girl...I want to turn part of my dress into a bassinet lining and another part into a christening gown.

Honestly I am going to sell mine too. I am not as attached as you though...I am trying to wait until the summer so we can finally do our day after shoot but to be honest, with all the stress I was sooo skinny before the wedding and I'm not sure I'll be able to zip it! hahah

Best of luck Jen! Your dress is gorge and someone will be LUCKY to get it! Viva la Vera!!!!!!!!!

Re: I'm selling my wedding dress

I used that website to purchase my dress. I had gone dress shopping for months before my wedding and never fell in love with a single dress. When I was on the site, I found a dress in Astoria that I could just tell from the pic that it was the one i had been looking for! Unfortunately, I called in june and our schedules never matched (sister's wedding in FL) to go and try on the dress. Two months passed and I tried contacting the woman again, almost sure it was sold. I received a n mail back telling me she had been waiting for me and had not sold it yet. When I tell you that I went there with my mom and sister, and put it on, I just knew it was the one. It was everything I was looking for and included the exact veil I wanted and a mini replica! I saw the dress in Macy's for almost $2k (not affordable to me) but it just wasn't sparkly enough. This woman worked for the designer and had extra Swarovski crystals added for her wedding. When I tell you it was 'the one,' it truly was and it was waiting for me! It fit perfectly, no alterations needed, and was sold at an amazing price and I took it home with me that day!

It truly was my dream dress and I wish I had an occasion to wear it to again (not that I want to be married to anyone else or anything!)

You will make a future bride so happy and I thank all of those who have sold their wedding dresses for doing it! You truly help to make someone's wedding day sooo special and sometimes can give them their dream dress even when the price from the store was way out of their range!

Re: I'm selling my wedding dress

I hope I put your mind at ease! You truly are doing a wonderful thing, and yes, it's sad to say goodbye, but you will be making another bride so happy and hopefully the happiness you see from that bride when she tries it on will overpower any sadness you have!

Be strong and thank you again to all of the girls who are selling or have sold their dresses!
