so i had a job interview today. for a position that i heard of through a friend of a friend. anyway im a nurse and this job happens to be in a small operating room. anyway.. i tend to be a bit squeemish but i really want to over come that fear and have a great job.
so i go to the interview and its going good then he tells me hes going to suit me up and let me watch a proceedure! totally unexpected but decided to suck it up and go watch.
so i get suited up and go into the room meet everyone NOTHING EVEN HAPPEND YET and then here we go.. i get a ringing in my ears and i break out into the terrible sweat and i tell the guy i think im going to pass out.. so i have to go into another room they have to get me juice... mind you i didnt pass out but was on the verge.. i was SOOOO EMBARRASSED!!!! i started to cry but held it in. i just wanted to put a bag on my head and run out!!!!
he tried to make me feel better by saying this is why they do this on the interview to make sure that you can handle it. i then requested to go back in and watch the proceedure. so he said sure i went back in i was FINE!!!
i think it was the whole anticipation of the unknown. that made me totally psych myself out!
anyway... i didnt get the job yet i have to go back on monday and put in a half day of shadowing to make sure i have survive!
ill up date then but i was just so embarrassed.

Dont be embarassed- I'm sure it probably happens all the time- you showed a lot of guts going in there a second time!

Aww, it was a good opportunity for you to face your axiety over it. Nice that he seemed to be understanding and gave you the opportunity to go back in. It's good that they do that...better for you to know too how you will handle it. Maybe it will start getting better for you. Good luck!

Aww dont be embarassed. You should be proud that you overcame your fear and went back in there again. I think going back on Monday is great bc then you will know if it is a good fit for you. The doctor was very nice in giving you that opportunity and I know you will do great on Monday.

Aww, don't be! You ****** it up and went back in, that shows a lot of courage and determination. If i was the person you were interviewing for, I'd be impressed.
And I think the fact that they called you back to shadow shows that they were impressed too.

thanks so much girls... i really cant believe it happend im so mad at myself. but i was trying to piece it allt ogether and i didnt eat, or drink anything because i was nervous about the interview.. so my sugar was probably low. i guess ill see how it goes on monday.
im just embarrassed to go back there on monday. i dont want them to thinnk im incapable of doing my job ya know!

aww thanks! i hope thats what they are thinking.. not like.. this stupid little girl is a nurse and cant even handle some blood

don't be embarrassed! It sounds like a lot people have had similar reactions. At least you were able to make it through the procedure after all, and I'm sure if you do fine on Monday, then the doctor will forget what happened today and just chalk it up to be nervous. Good luck!!!

I agree!! Good for you going back in there!!!!! There is nothing at all to be embarassed about. Did you intentionally do something? No! It was a normal reaction, could have happened to anybody. Relax.

omg girl so funny that you posted this (not really funny just coincidentally)...i'm a physical therapist i've been doing this for 12 years...and last friday i was watching a dressing change while i was squatting down looking at a really gross foot and i stood up and whoa....felt totally lightheaded, almost fainted too! a nurses aide grabbed me and threw me onto a toilet to sit!!
p.s. my blood pressure was sky high (strange since i wouldve thought it would be low) and i HAD TO GO TO THE ER IN A WHEELCHAIR!!! talk about embarrassed!!!! the whole nursing unit was watching me!!! the moral of the story is that it happens, we deal, we move on. go get em and good luck! keep us posted!

It happens!! You weren't prepared and you were just caught off guard. Try not to feel bad It happened to me when I was doign phlebotomy training. They wanted me to draw blood on a screaming, squirming 4 year old and I freaked out and left the room crying and shaking and they made me lay on a gurney and drink juice and eat a granola bar
You did fine after that and thats all that matters!
