I'm so scared

So I went to a different Dr. Since I felt like my other Dr. Wasn't doing anything, in the meantime I got a copy of my cat scan results to take with me today. Needless to say, even thought my Dr. said it was fine and there was nothing to worry about, I decided to open them and read them. Yesterday I was so scared, I didn't sleep at all, because it says I have a 3mm nodule (sp?)on my lung!

The new Dr. said that I need to be re-cat scanned in 3 months to see if it grows. Its not in a 'usual' spot so there a little concerned. Which leaves me a lot concerned!!! but that's not what the chest pains are from, she told me the name but its so freakin long I can't remember it, its swelling of tissue. they don't know what causes it and to be honest I could careless now, but its nothing serious. I'm so scared, and how in the world am I going to wait 3 months! Sorry just needed to vent, I'm soooooo scared.

oh Heather... hang in there .. its good that you went to another doctor to get a second opinion.. if it was something serious he would have had the cat scan done much sooner.. im sure you will be ok!

ITA. Hetaher just take a breath. Sometimes we make ourselves nutier by doing the 'what if' game. I am sure it will work out. Just try and stress yourself as little as possible.

I know it is hard to not be nervous but if two doctors gave you an opinion and don't think it is anything serious that has to be a good sign.

If it is really upsetting you I would make an appointment for this week to see the doctor again. Tell her you are very worried and you would like her to check it and explain it to you again. That should give you some peace of mind .

I did that all day yesterday, what if its this... and it got me no where. 3 months is going to be a long time!!! I'm so mad my toher Dr. didn't tell me. this dr. did call him right in front of me to ask what it was about, he said oh I was going to have another scan in 3 months but its odd since he told me he'd see me in a year!!!

Heather - if it was something serious you would be having further tests.
Don't worry and get yourself upset. The nodule can disappear on its own. Do you realize how small 3mm is? It is the width of one of those m's.
Yes, I actually held my ruler up to the screen.
If you want a third opionion, we have a good cardio-thorasic surgeon at NS LIJ who did the surgery for my MIL.

im sorry about all this. just wanted to give you some i know its so hard to wait. a good way to pass time that can only help is . like others said, if they were super concerned, they wouldnt just say lets check again in 3 mos, theyd be ordering a ton of other tests.

I think it's normal to be scared.... if two doctors have said it's most likely nothing serious....hang in there. Try not to fill your head with what if's and don't research anything online that will make you even more worried.

Try to stay positive.... As Deanna said, if it was something serious they would have done another scan right away. It's so easy to get carried away in the 'what ifs' but it is quite possible that it's nothing. Think of how small 3mm is - that's really tiny. Heck, it could just be dust on the catscan lens! Don't make yourself sick over it, believe me I know how hard it is to wait for tests and results and follow up tests - it's my whole life lately.... I'm sure you are going to be fine and there is nothing to worry about. Go have a cookie - you'll feel better - and if that doesn't work, have two!

I wouldn't stress Heather...i've known a few people including DH who have things 'growing' in or on them...that turn out to be simple fatty like blobs...annoyng but harmless!!!

Heather-that stinks...I am sorry hun...but try to keep calm as doctor speak can be scary...trust me!

I'm sorry hun. I know it can be scary and stressful. If 2 docs told you it's nothing to be concerned with, I'll bet they're right. Hope you feel better!
