that stinks!!! did you already order it? I think you can use your old passport and just bring a copy of your marriage license. my sister and I traveled to Finland in '06 and her passport said her maiden name and her ticket was booked in her married name. they mentioned it to her when letting her into the country that she wouldn't be allowed back in to the US without a copy of her marriage license.....so she had one faxed to my uncles house and didn't have a problem at the airport.

To change your name...yes but since I have to 'renew' mine...I have to send in two more photos, marriage license and of course my old passport book (which you'd have to send back too, obviouslt)

We're going to so many places that I fear I'll get stuck there or it'll be to much hassle (london, france, italy, amsterdam) NOT that I would mind being trapped there but it would put a damper on our travel plans.
my TA (lastresorts Mom) even asked me from start do you want me to just use your maiden name for your travel arrangements...I should've just listened to her but noooo of course not!!

I did the same thing. Mine was issued 8/21/07 and luckily I rush shipped it on 8/14/08 and didnt have to pay...I got it back in a week...they're doing really well so if you didnt rush it, you still woulda got it in no time...

They aren't really taking that long to reissue anymore......when I renewed mine I don't think it was even two weeks after I mailed it and I had the new one in the mailbox........
Hope you don't have to pay the rush fee.....Good luck!!!

I don't understand why you have to renew it within a year of your wedding. My one year is coming up and I still did not change my name on it. My passport expires April 09, so I was going to change my name when it expires. Should I be doing it sooner?

I think if it was originally issued within the year that you were married you have one year to change your name with out a fee and they renew it for you for another 10 years at the time.
I don't know if it matters if you already had one.......
