Important question re: drs and GYNs

I have something going on that is not right. I don't feel any symptoms but I see them, if you catch my drift. I tried calling my GYN on tues and of course there were no openings. The nurse was supposed to call me and did not. I called the office again today (different location) and they have something on monday - when I start my new job.

Does anyone know if I can see my PCP for a GYN issue? I need an exam - maybe a culture of some sort ... I DO NOT have insurance either so I can't just see a new dr., I need to go to someone who I've seen who has my old ins on file because I will eventually have that ins again (when cobra finally kicks in).

TIA.

I know my dr's office has a GYN come in 2 days a week, i never used that gyn bc i went to my own but a lot of ppl came for that. Try calling your dr's office and see. I would call first just to see if this is even an option. If not call your GYN office again and say its very important and need to be seen soon. Whenever i say this the receptionist just tells me to come in at lets say 6pm and she'll just squeeze me in as long as i dont mind waiting.

one thing though: you dont have insurance anymore right? well bc then bc even though they have it on file, they send out payment right away and youre just going to be sent a bill with the amount on it and charged for it anyways.

eta: can you just go on monday but after work? i used to always go after work

Nope. it's some sort of other infection i think, maybe bacterial? I've had a string of infections since November and it's getting to be a REALLLL pain in the arse.

I know my pc doesn't do gyn exams, what about calling a planned parenthood.

OHHHHHH i get those ALLLLL the time... i mean.. like almost every time i go to the GYN i have one.... i always ask him why i get them and he says some woman are just more prone to them

i did read however that you should clean your sex toys very VERY well right after you use them b/c if you dont clean them good enough (or at all) bacteria gets attracted to them and then will spread inside you the next time you use it

just a little FYI

ehhhh I don't know ... something about them makes me nervous ... but since I have no coverage right now maybe it would be free or at a small cost?

when I get insurance, it will be retroactive to march 1 so if i saw someone, it would cover the visit eventually.

I don't know how much it is, but I am pretty sure its low cost. It won't hurt giving a call and finding out. A lot of people who don't have insurance use plan parenthood because its cost affective and they don't turn people away.

i used to go to PP - they do it on a sliding scale basis according to how much you make... but since you have been laid off, i dont know how they do that.... i would give it a shot.... there arent many locations, thats the only thing

I went to the one in Patchogue for a few years when I didn't have insurance and I liked them a lot. They always got me in and made me feel comfortable. It will definitely be easier for you to go to them without the insurance. Good luck!
