I always liked math in school...(except calc 2 in college..but I was pledging then - and my teacher hated pledges!). In college I always did my roommates math homework - she hated math and I was jealous because she was in 'easy math'.

I just saw this quiz on hotmail's site - Try it out!

I love math!!! And it looks like I can still pass the 8th grade math test in IL, although I did get question 17 of the quiz wrong...

Silly me for thinking that 40 squared is more than 10 to the 4th power!!!!

I was wondering why the math department was wearing their tee shirts that has the PI symbol.

I hated math class. I am more of a literature gal.
I still remember PI, but thankfully have not had to use it in years

Re: In honor of today...

I used to love Math and was good at it until I hit AP Calc Senior year in HS. UGH -- I was completely lost at that point. I didn't have to take real math in college -- a computer course and fundamental class was all I needed for my journalism major-- so now I'm a complete moron when it comes to math.

I need my calculator -- how pathetic!

Love math ... taught it to 5th through 8th graders in a greek school .. my first teaching job. It was always my fav. subj.

When I was teaching there, I was using the term 'PI' & the kids all looked at me like I had 10 heads! They said ... why do they say it that way ... its a 'P' .... I NEVER KNEW THAT!! I always think of those kids when I see it now! I miss them.

Re: In honor of today...

All I have to say is why do I still have the some semblance of the quadratic formula memorized???:

-b squared + or - 4AC over 2A

Re: In honor of today...

doreen...I can't remember it completely either...but 12 years ago I knew it by heart!

Re: In honor of today...

the complete formula would go like this:

-b + or - the square root of (b squared - 4ac) and then the whole thing divided by 2a

And yes, I had to look it up!!! What a shame on me.
