Indian Brides.. should I be insulted or is it just a culture difference?
Hi ladies,
I was just wondering if you could help me out. One of DH's groomsmen is getting married in India this year. They're going to have a big reception here when they get back. We got the invite today, and it's only addressed to DH We've been married for a YEAR now, and it's one of his good friends, so I can't imagine them forgetting about me, but maybe? I was just wondering if maybe this is a cultural thing, where the invitation gets sent to the man and it's just assumed the wife is invited as well? I've never heard of that, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone knew if that was a possibility. I certainly wouldn't want to be insulted if that's just how it's done in another culture... but I must say, I better be invited! Thanks for any help..

wow. I never heard of that. If I talk to my friend anytime soon, I'll try & remember to ask her. They didn't put Mr & Mrs. so & so? Did they send it to a calligrapher & perhaps they messed up the 'to' part?

I think its the opposite Valerie. If anything they would absolutely invite you. I think it was an oversight. Ask him to talk to his groomsmen

I think there is an indian/desi brides thread on here. maybe post the question to those ladies. Im sure they will know if this is common or not.

well here goes nothing.. i'm indian and i personally think it's oversight, but.. we got an invite last week addressed to DH.. and this dude was at our wedding..
i don't think it's intentional at all.. they might have figured since he's DH's friend he would just address it to him but you both are invited.. honestly, not everyone pays attention to etiquette of invites and just send it out.. i would just put 2 and send it in..

Sorry to hear that. But, I think that it is just an oversight. I hope it is.
