If their marriage is legal, does that mean that they get the same perks as heterosexual couples? Such as immigration, insurance laws???

Unfortunately they dont have all the same rights. To answer the question above....
Immigration is controlled by the federal government, who still does not recognize gay marriage. Under state law they will get all the same rights as heterosexual couple, but any thing federal is out of the question.

they would get all the state benefits but not federal (gay marriage is not recognized on the federal level-its state by state...maybe one day really far away the feds will too)
