Is anyone working on their albums?

Is anyone working on their albums?

I got my proofs back as soon as we got back from the honeymoon. So I guess I've had them for about a month or so. Well everyone has seen them and now it's time to try and pick out the pictues. I think it's harder than I thought it would be. In fact, I remember telling the photographer when we were purchasing our package that we wouldn't want anymore than 40 pictues in our album (WOW) was I wrong. I have about 700 pictures and it is very difficult picking only 40. I already know I am going to have to add. How long after your wedding did you get out your thank-yous? Is 2 months after ok? That's seems like when I will be able to get them all done by.

I have all of my album pictures picked out, and my thank you picture. It helped that I kept reminding myself that I will get to keep all the proofs. That made it easier to weed out pictures that I wanted, but didn't NEED in my album. Good luck... it's a very tough job! : )

JennRenee didn't you just get married?

I too get to keep all my proofs but they take so many and it's hard to know what to put in the (ALBUM) did you have your photo company help. I'm thinking of narrowing it down to about 65 and then asking for their help. Did your do that or do any of them do that? Who did you use?? Did you bring them in to be done already? How about your thank you? Did you start writing them?

;-)

Thankfully that is done--now we are just waiting--
we ended up with 66 pics in our album (10X10- which I recommend highly if you like 5X5 proofs)
our package came with 60 and we had about 500 proofs--
the album design specialist really helped us -- we went in with about 70 pics that we wanted--
it was also easier for us because we get the negatives as well

Album

I have had my proofs for at least 2 months now and haven't even started picking photos for the albums. I keep saying how we have to really get moving on that especially since the parents albums need to get done too. But for some reason I'm in this post-wedding phase where I'm not in such a rush to do it, even though my proofs are gorgeous. I guess it is hard to narrow several hundred down to 70 but its more of a matter of feeling like I have better things to do!!

I got my thank yous out at exactly the two month mark...that is a huge relief when that is done!

JennRenee didn`t you just get married?

Yes, I just got married on July 6th. I'm also off all summer, so I have a lot of time on my hands. : )

I used Laurie Studio, and their advice to me was to pick as many or as few pictures that I need to 'tell the story of our day'. I chose 82 pictures, and now I am going to make an appointment with them to discuss order and layout. If they want to give me any advice or make suggestions at that time, i'm all ears!

I haven't started on my thank yous yet, but I will as soon as my cards come in. Instead of having traditional cards with slide in photos, we are having our picture on the front of the card. I want to get started ASAP because we will be moving into our house and then I will be starting school, so I want to use my free time while I have it!
A word of advice... I know the proofs as a lot are very overwhelming. What I did was organize them into sections, (home, church, outside church, formals before cocktail hour, candids,) and tackled one section at a time. It makes the task a little less daunting. Good luck, and let me know how you're doing!

PS~ My friend who got married May 18th still hasn't chosen her album either. You're in good company! : )

Answer... and a question...

We haven't finalized them or met with the photographer. Since we currently live in Boston we have not been pushing it too much since we also need to coordinate the photographer visit with a trip to NY on the weekend.

Now for my question - what is the FIRST photo in your albums??? The traditional shot of the invitation with the flowers didn't turn out :-( so I'm trying to decide what should be the first picture - some of the getting ready shots don't seem quite right and I'm having a hard time 'starting' the story. Any suggestions for a beginning?

We got married in June & have yet to think about the album. We did choose the thank you note picture, so that's one thing down. But we'll do the album in the next few months. We too get to keep our proofs (I totally thought this was the norm...maybe it's not?), but with over 700, it's going to be a daunting task narrowing things down. No rush for us though!

speaking of albums & proofs

I have been looking for a book for my 5x5 proofs and have found quite a few websites but this one is the best price and design so far. If you aren`t familiar with this type of album, the refill packs usually include screw-in posts that add more room to the spine of the book. I could probably store all my proofs in 1 book and for those of you with 700 proofs..maybe 2 books. Check it out...

just getting around 2 it- after a yr!

well- we get to keep our proofs too- about
600 to 700 of them. His mom went through them and picked
her pics back in NOV (boy am I behind!).
WE have narrowed it down...but now need to weed
some out and go to the photog.
yes, more almost 13 months later.
I guess because our proofs were waiting for
us when we returned from our honeymoon..we wound
up delaying the decisions. ( many other pressing house
stuff to do)
Recevied a letter from the photog so we will set up an
appt for next week.

We didn't do a video. We have a home made video and all the other proofs. But can't wait till we get the album. Then we'll finally be done with all the wedding stuff!

Just to let you know

When I went to finalize my album here is what they did. Instead of the the first picture being our invitation with the flowers, we picked a close up of ourselves as the first page. Then after that you pick the pictures that will face eachother. I don't know if this set up would be the same for an album other than flush. They will walk you through that. Good luck and try to get them in early so you get them back early.
