If i havent done my thank you cards yet? we got our pro pics back about a month ago, but we havent had the money for me to actually order them!
Etiguette says they should be out within 3 months. So if money is an issue I would try and order some from an online place cause they can be really cheap but nice quality and at least get out ones to people that maybe dont know money is tight.....friends will understand the delay
Well etiquette says you have up to a year to do them but I think sooner is better. get them out when ever you get the chance!

i've always hear up to a year. though, i didn't wait that long. between traveling, $$ issues and getting together to write them between conflicting work schedules, etc... it took us almost 5 months. personally, i think you'll be fine! i don't think you have to go crazy and buy cheaper ones to get some out earlier. we took our time because we wanted to to both write in them and write very personalized messages. i never heard any complaints and once people did get them, i heard a lot of 'wow, already?!' and 'we loved that you wrote so much!'... so don't panic i think you have time!

Nope a year to give a gift not to get out TY's.....Martha Stewert and Emily Post both say 3 months

Ideally, a response should be written on the day you receive a wedding gift. If that’s not possible, set a daily goal. It’s a lot easier to write three or four notes a day than to have to write a hundred notes in a month after the wedding!

Well, seeing as how most people wish to include professional pictures and how you do not always receive them right away, I always think that when I receive a thank you note within the year timespan it is acceptable.
I'm pretty sure most people would feel the same way.
(Though when I received a thank you about a year and a half after the fact, I had to wonder.)
