Is it too much to ask....

Is it too much to ask....

I had a dentist appointment at 6. Before I left the house, I asked my DH to start dinner so when I got home I wouldn't have to cook. He was about to take a nap - so I made sure to ask him to make the effort to get up and make dinner.

Well, what do you know, I walk in at 730 and he is asleep....I swear, I could just bet $ that he would be sleeping.

Is it so much to ask to make an effort? He takes a nap every day after work ( ) so its not a deep deep sleep....

so what would you do? I am refusing to make anything. We just had an argument about it and he says I am being a b***h. I think he is being unreasonable.

Anyone go through this

Yep, perfectly normal lol

Will he at least make someting now that he is awake? tell him to make something and in the meantime, you go and take a nice long hot bath/shower..

Get him where it counts

J/K explain to him how you feel then store it in your memory bank and use in the future

I am sorry. I would be very upset too. My DH cooks dinner almost every night when he is home. I am usually on the puter when he cooks dinner.

LOL thanks guys

I wound up giving him the semi-silent treatment and he felt bad and wound up making us frozen pizza.

Also, he told me that night that he tried for the first time quitting smoking (only had 5 cigs all day - usually smokes almost 2 packs) so he is a bit irritable!

Well, my DH never cooks so that is one less thing to argue about.

Seriously, these first few months of marriage are about establishing individual responsibilities.

You have to nip things in the bud from the very beginning. It is about give and take- helping each other out. He really should have made an attempt to cook something.

Honestly I think these things come with time, just keep talking and putting your feelings out there.

I know it is hard, but do not change who you are to prove a point, treat him the way you want to be treated, do not feed him back with the hand that he fed you, it was not intentional. Girl I have learned so much about myself it is crazy. It is always easier to do the thing which makes us feel good for the moment, but in the end you would want him to cook the next time you ask him. You being the bigger person will have a greater effect on him. Like they say, at times you have to do what's right, just b/c its right.

When you get this upset about something this minor, just ask yourself, will this matter one year from today???

Instead of letting this burn you up so, think of all the other times that he has done something to make you smile, this is not an overnight process it takes some doing. Remember none of us needs help in remembering the bad in our mates, but it takes work when they have fallen short to remember all the good they have done. Forgive him and move on.
