Italian Honeymoon?

For those who went to Italy on their honeymoon:

How long did you stay?
Which cities did you visit?
How did you get from city to city?
Can you recommend any hotels?

Thanks!!

Re: Italian Honeymoon?

We didn't go for our HM, but we went last December. We went to Milan (2nts) Venice (3nts) and Rome (5nts). I wouldn't recommend Milan. It was nice but there wasn't much to see there and I would have preferred to go to Florence or Tuscany. Venice and Rome are must dos. I loved Venice, one of my favorite European cities next to Paris. It is so unique and beautiful. In Venice, the Doges Palace is a great tour. Sign up for the secret passages tour and you can see where Casa Nova was held prisioner and escaped. Definitely do a private gondola ride, worth the $$$. It cost of 75 Euros, but we really enjoyed it. Rome was great and there is a lot to do there, plus you can take a day trip to Pompeii.

We flew between each city. We got a really good package from a travel agent. Although, I must add that we are currently living in Europe which is why it was cheap for us. My girlfriend and her husband did a tour of Italy for their HM and enjoyed it.

One thing to consider with a European Honeymoon is that you are doing a lot of touring which doesn't leave much time for relaxing and doing nothing. If you have any specific questions feel free to FM me.

Re: Italian Honeymoon?

We took a guided tour for 2 weeks through italy. We start in Rome and visited Venice, Florence, Milan, Assisi, Sorrento, Capri and a bunch of other stops. It was a great trip after the wedding b/c we didnt have to do any planning or research, the tour took us everywhere we wanted to go. We saw so much.

Keep in mind that the exchange rate now is aweful. So trips to Europe this year are significantly more now.

Re: Italian Honeymoon?

we did! And we didn't want to do the touring thing so instead we spent three nights on the Amalfi Coast, two on Capri and five in Tuscany. It was so beautiful & relaxing, the food and wine were amazing and we were able to really relax and enjoy. We went in September so it was 80 and sunny and after the busy season. Stef has a good point about the Dollar being so low though. If you have any other questions, let me know.
