Just changed my name at the DMV - now what????

I know there have been sooo many postings about what you have to change in order to officially change your name. But I have a question - we just moved to a new state, and I had to get a new driver's license, and the DMV kind of 'made me' change my name to my married name (we've been married just over a year, but I wasn't ready to really do it, but knew I was going to do it). Now, that is the only piece of ID that has my married name. Does that mean I'm officially the new name, or is it when I change my social security card? And, what do I change next? And, has anyone else felt sad when they changed their name??? I feel guilty feeling sad, but I miss my old name already...help!!!

If you are using your married name at work for payroll purposes, you must change your SS card . That was pretty simple . The Passport was easy too , just go to their websites and they have instructions on whatto do and where to mail stuff. Once you have the license , it is easy to change your bank accounts and credit cards . I have been married 9 months and there are still a few things out there in my madien name. I do not really miss my old name , but sometimes it slips out when I answer my phone at work . It does take some time , but you will get used to your married name . If you are going to travel at all , you shoudl make sure you have more then one form of ID with your married name . Good luck !
