Like I have posted - Jim and I lived together so being married really isn't any different! What is like for everyone else out there??
I have heard some of my friends say that the first year can be very difficult - b/c of all the adjustments of living together - but for us so far it almost the same. The only thing that I feel is different is I keep telling him we are newlyweds so he has to be extra nice and sweet. The only other thing is saying your wife if home and things like that, but for the most part it's the same. What does everyone else think??

Just curious....
We lived together also. Ten months and counting an so far, nothing out of the ordinary. I think when you don't live together before, you sometimes need to get used to things like sharing space and balancing your time.
You probably already went through a lot of that stuff when you first moved in together.

Just curious....
We are presently living with my parents, and things are, well... interesting. I practically have to wait on line to say 'hello, how was your day' when Patrick gets home from work, because the rest of my family pounces on him. I *know* I'm married, but I don't feel it yet. August 15th can't get here fast enough!

adjusting?
WE did not live together but did spend weekends at
either his place or mine. So we were accustomed
to some of the quirks of sharing space.
A lot of the adjustmetn the first yr is
getting into/picking your role within the couple.
Whether you are the saver or spender, in charge of sending
birthdaycards/buying presents, planning trips, paying bills, mowing hte
lawn,etc.
Can be 'enlightening' if you are used to the guys in the
house taking out the trash..but your hubby hates doing that, etc.
Also- adjusting to money issues. Again- who is the saver,
who is the spender, what is your 'want' vs his, how does
having kids weight in on this, who makes more $, and how
to balance all of this.
I would think that people who have lived together still
have to work through through these bumps too.
As well as getting used to hearing him refer to you as his wife!

Adjustment
We did live together for about 2 years before we got married and so there haven't been any major crises about getting used to each other - we already are. Plus we've gone through buying a house together so that was a good unifying event. I think the biggest adjustment is so subtle - the whole now you are husband and wife thing. It does change your relationship with each other but it a subtle, background sort of way. We are a family now, our own team, if you will. And calling each other husband and wife is so weird! But its hard to explain the shift in emotion toward my husband now. As I look forward to all the things we have coming up in our married life. If anything, the only change is coming closer and me getting used to my ridiculously long last name!!

Adjustment
I agree about the changes being more subtle in a way. Now that we have been married 4 months, it starts to settle more and more into who we are, husband & wife, hard to explain. We moved in together in November and got married in March but there are still adjustments because I am use to doing things different than he does. But I try to compromise and I know he does too by his actions and I try to let go of perfection. Although, paradoxically speaking, things are perfect just the way they are. Lee-I have the opposite going on with my new last name - my new one is so much easier. With my maiden name, I would have to spell and respell, pronounce and repronounce so I`m not complaining.
Good luck to all - keep sharing your comments on newlywed life.

Adjustment
I am having trouble being a 'Mrs.' I mean it REALLY bothers me! I love being married and having a husband, and now I'm even getting used to using my new last name, but I just can't get past being a Mrs. I'm a teacher, so when September comes I'm going to be hearing a lot of it, so I better get used to it!
Am I nuts?? : )

I still prefer Ms. myself...although as a teacher that probably won't work will it??

Wait until you get 'Ma'am' !!!
You'll really feel like their talking to someone else when some young'un with a proper upbringing calls you Ma'am!!! Talk about making you feel old! LOL

Use Ms.
I prefer Ms. Mrs. makes me think that they're talking about/to my in law.

Use Ms.
Thanks for the suggestions and the emphathy! I think that using Ms. may not work because young children tend to call everyone Miss or Mrs. I think Ms. is foreign to them! I will give it a shot though. Like KGB said, every time someone says Mrs. R., I think they mean my MIL! Hopefully this weirdness about being a Mrs. will pass quickly. Thanks for the support!

I kept my name and added the Mrs.
I guess somewhere down the road I will take on the name but for now I want to keep mine. Except the day of the wedding everyone kept saying Mrs. ____ and I feel the same - it's not me it's his mother. She keeps asking me if I am keeping my own name b/c we were only introduced at Jim & Tara - I just say oh yes I've taken it... but I haven't. I guess when we have kids I really will have no choice but for now I'm still ME!! I'm glad to see there is some life on the board of newlywed (I never really looked and never wanted to leave the brides board but it's not as bad as I thought! But, I'm still reading theirs like crazy!

I kept my name and added the Mrs.
We were also introduced by our first names, Jennifer and Patrick. I threatened my emcee with bodily harm if he called me Mrs. anything!! : )
As for keeping my own last name, well, I could't wait to get rid of it. It's long and Italian, and if mispronounced sounds like a well known dirty word in Spanish. : ) I like using my new last name, but as JENNIFER R., not Mrs. R! : )

I had name change issues
I added my husband's name to mine. I wanted to keep my maiden name because I think it's unfair that only the woman changes her name.
My suggestion was to merge both names and come up with a whole new one, but of course, that didn't go over at all!

names...
Kept my maiden name professionally. Thank goodness
I did because 2 days after returning from
the honeymoon I was out of work!
(who is Phyllis R?) hehe
so I still get a kick out of being called
Mrs Robinson- a yr later since I dont hear
it all the time.
