I think you know what is best for you BUT I think all you should say is 'FH and I have decided only to have soo and soo in the BP. I want my friends to just come and enjoy themselves'. If you tell the reason then the girls can argue with you about it. Why bother? You know the reasons and you should not have the drama.
Who are the MOH and BM? if they are family- you can say that you and DH have decided to ONLY have family. You need GMs to help seat guests so that can also help you there.
But honestly, no one should be asking you about this.

I have many GF and out of all of them I chose 4, I should have only chosen 3. One girl came to me in the end and said I should have asked her, mind you, she was out of work and I did not want to put her out. I chose people who I know would not cause me drama, b/c I have seen many brides go thru it before me. You are the one that will have to deal with the drama, so don't feel bad. As long as you are comfortable with the decision, then why worry about what others think.
