how did the interview go?
Laura
Laura - thanks for asking. The interview seemed to go OK, but for a number of reasons I told the recruiter that I was not interested even if they offered me the position.
Among those reasons was the fact that it took us an hour and a half to drive 40 miles from Granny's house to the interview - just an indication of what we'd be facing every time we wanted to visit family in NY - not to mention $14 in tolls to cross 2 bridges and as much as an additional hour to visit family further out on the island.
There were also several issues with the job - transfering a department to NJ from MO and most of the people were not coming, so there was a big loss of knowledge - hints that the president was difficult and very hands on - and one key area that I definately did not have much experience in. I just saw too much stress and potential to crash and burn - it just wasn't worth pursuing.
So we're looking at other opportunities in LI and up towards Westchester and CT and still giving Arizona some serious consideration.
On a happy note, my current employer extended my termination date because they had someone else leave and they asked me to support one of the other departments for awhile.
well it seems like that worked out for the better
as for the NJ to LI thing-- we face that all the time-- 2 of my brothers(with 5 of my nieces) my mom and all my cousins are on li--so we face the driving nightmare all the time and i wouldnt wish it on anyone that is close to their family-- I dont see them weekly but like to touch base at least once a month and it is hard to do--
that is good that your present job will be lasting a bit longer to give you more time to figure out what you want to do---
