Househunting and interview....

Well - first the interview. It went very well. I should be getting a formal offer by the end of the week, and the terms were good enough. They've also offered the use of the corporate apartment for an unspecified amount of time while we look for a house, which is a big help. I'll probably be starting in early November.

Househunting was another story. The agent we had arranged to meet was not there, and showed up after they reached him at home with a story about his grandmother passing away the previous night. May or may not be true - in any event, he had not done any prep work nor had he set up any appointments for us to look at properties. He did pull some info and gave us a detailed map so we could drive by and check out neigborhoods, so that's what we did.

Anyway, Medford and Patchogue had some OK areas we saw, but we liked Lake Grove and Lake Ronkonkoma area better. We also saw areas along Montauk highway that we though warranted more investigation. Sayville and W. Sayville, Islip and E. Islip. Anyway, we'll be probably heading back to look for a few days around the 27th if I accept the offer. It takes a lot more time to look around than you would expect. Everything else has fallen into place, so I'm praying the same happens with the house!!!

Tomorrow we go on a 3-day vacation up to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It's a little past peak up there for foliage, in fact, it's had some snow! But it's in the 40's and 50's now, and it will be great to get away.

Oh the joys of house hunting!

Karen,

Sorry to hear about the road bump you hit on your house hunting journey, but things sound real good with your prospective new job!

Best of Luck on both! And have fun on your trip!

Congratualtions on the job!! Sounds like it is going well. Sorry to hear abou the house hunting. Sayville is a very nice area so worth looking into.

Enjoy the White Mountains. We went there for the second half of our honeymoon. It is our favorite place to go and we are looking for a condo to buy, probably in the Bartlett area with the next year or so. It looks like there is still foliage there in some places (webcams are great). Hope you have a wonderful trip.
