I take Tae Kwon Do...which is a martial art...similar moves to kickboxing...it's a great workout...cardio and builds muscle...and a great stress reliever as well...enjoy it!

Re: kick boxing
I took a cardio kickboxing class out on the island when I was still living in North Babylon. I recommend that class to ANYONE. You can burn up to 800 calories or more in just one hour of doing that.
I have never been in such great shape in my life, I started to get a six pack!!! I was doing 300 crunches during one class. It was amazing, and it motivated me so much. I only went for abou 2 months, and that was only about 2-3 times a week, MAYBE. It kicks your butt. I haven't gone in a while b/c I changed jobs and I got home too late, and then I moved out to Queens.
I still would like to find a place out here, but no one reallys offers it after 6:00 when I get home from work. I just want to go to a no name type of place, not a gym. They tend to pay more attention to you when it's a smaller bunch of people.
Good luck, and you will love it. Stick with it, and you will be in the best shape of your life.

It works alll of you. I don't have a big waist, but it's wobbly lol And like I said, I started to get a freaking 6 pack. The instructor I had was amazing, but I am sure anywhere you go it will be fine. One thing I would make sure of is make sure that the instructor is helping people do the moves correctly. I went to NYSC once and my MIL was doing some moves that could've hurt her neck, badly, and the instructor just kept going. Make sure that they really care about the students. If not, I would find another place. That is all I can say about that. :)
and have fun!

Trust me, you will see results within the first 2 weeks with the kickboxing. IT's hardcore, but it is awesome. :) Good luck!
