Kinda dreading the name change...
mostly the process because it sounds like a handful and that things get botched up along the way..but a tiny part of me feels kinda sad (for lack of a better word) to change my name.
I've never thought twice about changing it. I definitely want to and will. But I'm just a little surprised at myself. If I had to guess, I would have thought I'd be all over it...
I haven't even started the process yet.

Re: Kinda dreading the name change...
i'm going thru it now. its a bit of a hassle but so far actually hasnt been so bad (although I have only completed step 1 of going into all the necessary offices, and dont actually have any of my new documents yet). for me i'm not sad about it necessarily, more like its strange and i keep forgetting what my name is!!!

I felt the same way - all for it, but tinges of sadness that my maiden name wasn't going to be there anymore. Hyphenating it was not something I wanted to deal with. It's not that big of a PITA if you go to SS and the DMV nice and early! After that, everything else is really easy.

Re: Kinda dreading the name change...
Thanks - both of you made me feel better! It is nice to know I'm not the only one with mixed/confused/strange feelings.Hyphenating is also something I won't be doing / don't wanna deal wiith. I suppose I will drag myself into SS and DMV early tomorrow morning. If you don't see me posting away first thing tomorrow you'll know why and where I am....
PS...what is this face for?

Re: Kinda dreading the name change...
I didn't have any hassle changing my name. I went to SS first and gave them my ID and marriage license. Then I went to DMV and did the same. I received both within 2 weeks and changed all my cc's either online or over the phone.

I mean I really AM excited! Is it confusing to leave certain things in the maiden name (bank, work, etc) and everything else switched? What about health insurance...what that one a pain?

health insurance was the easiest of all for me! called them, faxed a copy of marriage cert., it was changed in my online account the next day!

Re: Kinda dreading the name change...
SSA and DMV were easiest.Everything else was a PITA, the biggest being changing name on all my credit cards. I'm taking someone's advice and just changing my name on mail/bills as they come in.
