Letting friends go?

Letting friends go?

Kitty's post reminded me of this and I wanted to get your opinion.
There is 1 friend from high school who I still talk to. I am FB friends with several but this is the only one I have any sort of relationship with (or whom was invited to my wedding).
Anyway, I asked her to be in the BP a year before the wedding. She said no, and while I understood her reasons (she just started an residency and said she wouldn't have a flexible schedule to do wedding stuff) I was still sort of hurt.
She didn't come to my e-party or shower. She RSVPed yes for the wedding. Shortly after our first dance she comes up to DH and I and says she has to go. Her nephew is in from OOT and she had to catch the last ferry to Fire Island. Our wedding was on a Sunday followed by a monday holiday and I felt like she could have seen him on Monday. I was really hurt.
I sort of feel like giving up on her. I mean I hadn't seen her in over a year and we hardly ever talk. Several of my emails to her have gone unanswered in the last few months (such as 'how are you's' and 'happy b-days'). But she is my last HS friend. What would you do?

It sounds to me like shes either to busy or has just moved on. I personally feel when you care about someone you make time for them.

Sometimes friends grow apart. Its hard to let go especially when its one sided but unfortunately it happens and will continue probably continue to happen with friends as time passes

OK the e-party and shower I would say, let it go. After all she said no to you to being in the b-party because she felt she couldn't commit time.

The leaving the wedding early to catch the last ferry, I would let that go too. I had a friend who was staying there and had to do that. I was disappointed but I understood (and she did try to find someone to drive her to the beach by boat first.)

Putting them all together and the fact that it was a holiday... that might be where I say its not worth it.

Her parents live in the same town as mine, so I know she had somewhere to stay (that didn't require a ferry to get there).
I know I should let it go, but I don't know if I want to.
I might just wait and see what her next move is (an email or something), although I am thinking there won't be one.

I think shes proved that its just not worth it to try to maintain a friendship with her...let her go.
