Lisa T....question for ya!

I'm packing for the HM, and my mom keeps telling me the weather in San Fran is crazy...but she won't tell me what crazy means, she just says 'I dunno crazy!'.

Any advice on what to pack?

pack things you can layer, and be prepared for anything! Does that help?

Two days ago it was hot and sunny, today its windy, foggy and cool. There's a pretty drastic difference from one part of the city to another and from night and day (its not unusual for a 20-30 degree temperature change between the day's hi and low). SF is full of 'micro-climates' - weather changing from one block to the next, so always have something you can put on (or take off) as needed.

Its rarely shorts weather (within the city itself), though it does happen (especially this time of year). So pack some, but bring more pants and capris. On your day trips outside the city (Napa, etc) it tends to be warmer.

Bring some light sweaters and a jacket. Most nights I'm in my leather jacket. A light jacket is good for the cool days.

Bring comfortable shoes (to face the hills with). SF is pretty casual, so unless you have some fancy dinners planned, you don't need anything too dressy.

glad I could help!

we just had an earthquake - a small one (4.3 in Santa Rosa). I barely noticed it except that the glasses started shaking and you feel like you're dizzy (cause the ground's moving). Second one in the last week. I've probably only felt half a dozen in the 4 years I've been out here. Its a strange sensation.

I lived in the Bay area for only 3 years, and I experienced 3 small earthquakes during that time. Twice, they were so small that we didn't realize until AFTER it happened what it actually was.

THe ONE time that it was most noticable and scary was only TWO DAYS after we brought the baby home from the hospital. I was standing right by his crib when it happened (Thank God), or else I would have FREAKED OUT!
