I am looking to go into an actual building and change the name on my old passport that I did get over a year ago.
:) Did any of you newlyweds go into a building and change your passport? If yes, where?

I just called and no you can't go in person unless you are going to travel somewhere soon and you have a plane ticket already and can only do it 2 weeks or less from the date you are travelling. Otherwise they say to mail it. And no you don't have to send in your original marriage certificate, it can be a certified copy.
I knew this was going to be the case bc I have gone to the passport agency each time ive gotten my passport and the only way to even get an appointment to go there is to have a plane ticket already and even then it had to be 2 weeks to the day or less. Its an automated message too for the city one and if you dont have a plane ticket then they won't give you an appointment.

ah he didnt tell me how much a certified copy is but yeah i guess lol i have no clue. I also interrupted him by accident, we both started talking at the same time and i think I have to pay $75 for a name change on my passport, I should've asked him to repeat the price lol. I also have had my passport for over a year so thats why, if its under then there is no fee. Infact ive had it for 8 years and going to expire in 2.

Thanks girl.. Yeah just stinks we have to pay $10 for something we have. but yeah not sending my original copy to them.. The lady at the town was like 'i know ppl get nervous with sending mail but they do return everything' .. I was like UM lady please too much of my mail has been lost good try lol.

oh yeah i cant send in original things. Honestly if they said we HAD to send in original then i would've left my passport as is and then change it only after i have a trip planned and go in person and do it 2 weeks before I leave. I would prefer doing that.
I remember on the site they said about 6 weeks

I would really hope you get it by March lol but I hear they are back to regular schedule now, not like last year when you had to wait months. Everybody seems to be getting it in a decent amount of time now.
