Thought that maybe we could discuss this topic. When you first moved in together what is something you didn't expect? I didn't expect to have sports on the TV so often. So we had to get another TV. It was just not working out well with only 1 in the house. One big plus is that I didn't expect that Scott would vacumn and he does every single week, without me even asking!

Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
a) didnt expect so much sports b) didnt expect him to be such a freak about wasting electricity c) didnt expect him to be so 'domesticated' (cooks, does laundry, etc..)

I don't think I expected that I would have to replace his mother in the sense that I have to tell him to clean up his clothes or take his glass into the kitchen!!! Maybe I need to not complain and he will EVENTUALLY do it on his own!? Hmmmmm....

Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
I didn't expect:
1. that it would feel so different - in a good way (since we spent most nights together anyway)
2. so much laundry (or that he'd be so good about doing it)
3. such an increase in grocery bills
4. him to care about which way the toilet paper goes on
5. him to hog the closet

I didn't expect... to ENJOY the alone time I have when he works nights (most of the time ).
that he would be such a great partner in keeping a home in order.
to be this happy. I was under the impression that the first 5 years of marriage are 'difficult'. If this is hard, bring on the rest of my life!

Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
I moved in with hubby 6 mos before we got married and these are the things I did not expect
1) Food would cost so much
2) That I would worry so much when he was late
3) That I would miss him so when he travelled
4) That it would feel so different, like its a feeling of permanence, so comforting
5) That he could be so lazy sometimes
6) That he was such a remote control hog
7) That he would not replace the milk when we ran out
8) That there could be so much laundry
9) That he would not eat left overs after a couple of days....I love left overs

I think the things he did not expect was all the clothes that I had if only he knew that there are still some clothes at my mother's house

I never realized that Steve loves to be in the dark. I love light and always have blinds open and lights on. He is always going behind me turning off the light and I can't tell when was the last time our blinds were open.

I didn't expect that I had married my father and felt like I was right at home!!
I also didn't expect that I would TURN into my father and walk around shutting off lights and telling him that we don't own stock in ConEd!!!
I didn't expect him to be a bed & blanket hog and not let me open the window (you know SpiderMan will climb up the walls ) or put the ceiling fan on (can't get a draft, no can we?)!!
I didn't expect to love him more and more every day -- annoying habits and all!!! And I miss him when he's not home, but like Jenn said, I enjoy the time to myself!!!!

Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
Didn't realize what a sports freak his is...I have no control over my TV or radio.
Didn't realize how helpful he woud be (in terms of laundry, cooking etc.)
Didn't realize how cool it would be to come home to him everyday.
Didn't realize it's harder to fight when you don't have too many rooms to go to...and in that regard I realized that I go into the bathroom a lot to 'be by myself.'

Luckily - I didn't have any surprises. I already knew:
he watches sports nonstop he rarely cleans up after himself! LOL
But like Irenie said - I didn't expect to LOVE coming home to him each night
Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
hmmm...you guys have covered most of mine...
except...I thought there would be more sports...DH really doesn't watch much and he cleans ALL the time...
i didn't expect that he would not know that you cannot put food down the kitchen sink if you don't have a garbage disposal!!!!

JennRenee, that is soooo sweet!
And I should add I didn't expect to hate and miss him so much being apart for him just for a few hours at night either...

Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
I have to agree with Shamma on a few about food costing so much $$$$.
Laundry piling up so fast.
I realized that he REALLY is a SLOB
But I LOVE HIM

Didn't realize that
-he loves sports so much. -how difficult it is to cook for someone who doesn't eat meat. -how much I miss him when we are away from each other.

Re: Living in the same house- what didn't you except
Great question!
I didnt expect He would have twice as much stuff as I do
That he would be obsessed with storage space
That he hates clutter yet is very disorganized.
I also didn't expect That he would willingly do a lot of chores while I am at work so we can have free evenings together
How nice it is to come home to him in the evenings.

Where does all the laundry come from anyway? I don't get it either. Scott has done the laundry but the minute he put my suit into the washer (yes, girls that's right a suit) I told him that I think I should do it for a while.
But I do love him, the good, the bad and the messy

I missed one, how nice it is coming home to him, even when he makes a mess. I love my hubby more and more each day
