Looking back on your big day....

Looking back on your big day....

Is there anything you 'had' to have that after its all said and done you realize you really didnt need.

We had the flat screen TV's with our photomontage and ceremony recap playing. We just had to have this

Nobody even watched! And I really mean no one. There was an error with DJ before we were announced and he couldnt play it. He played it during dinner instead - with an announcement and I remember looking around the room and no one was paying attention!

The DJ even told us when we were booking that its not important and we dont need it and we still did it!!!

Oh thats is annoying!

There are a lot of DIY that I wish I didnt spend time on (petal cones, menus)....when it comes down to it I wish I just paid someone to do it because 1) it took forever 2) not many people pay attention and 3) many didnt even know I made them!

I was really happy with the couple of extras that we had- but there are a couple things I wished I added like the viennese hour

Doesnt it stink!! I mean we spent all this extra money on it for the DJ and the video guy to edit it and do it. Everyone told me it was a waste too!!

I didnt spend to much time DYI'ing but no one really blew bubbles at the church either
Probably b/c it started raining

No one blew bubbles at my sisters wedding (on site) and my mom spent hours gluing bows and flowers on them!

I had two flowergirls and I had one of them with big glittery snowflakes in her basket and I had so much trouble finding them but it was a waste because she didn't really throw any of them out anyway

i dont regret but i can see how we couldve done without it lol. But we had added the seafood bar, i guess in the excitement of booking lol but we couldnt take it off later. It was alot of money and i think with all the food we already had at CH it wouldnt have been missed, not like ppl would've said 'where is the seafood bar' lol. I did have a few ppl tell me that at CH all they ate was the crab legs and stuff like that, one person said they got up 3x to keep getting more so yeah some enjoyed it i guess but at the same time i think they would've been fine without it lol.

I think I kept things to a minimum and we couldn't really afford to do alot, so whatever we had I made sure we used it. There really wasn't any room for me to say I 'HAVE' to have this. So I guess my answer would be no lol

its funny how different things happen at different peoples weddings. Everyone raved about our seafood bar and the vienese hour so I thought that worked out, but like I said nobody watched the damn ceremony clip lol!!

I love watching those at peoples receptions and was really bummed when it wasnt a big hit

I really wish that I wouldn't have had a band, and that I would have saved $$ and gone w/a DJ.

Thats really the way I think people should look at planning a wedding. So many people would say you dont need this and you dont need that. It just gets so crazy when your planning....

Don't get me wrong, my list of things I wish I would've had is a mile long lol But there just wasn't enough spending room haha

Re: Looking back on your big day....

It will sound like I didn't like my wedding, but I did...I would have really not had a lot of things, the cupcakes that I did LOVE AND RAVE about were delish and they were loved by everyone but 700+ bucks that we didn't need to spend and boxing them, labeling them, ribboning them...way too much time on it. The DIY menus I did, people noticed them and commented but still a waste of time for me, I would have probably not spent that much money on my dress but in the moment it was a MUST HAVE, looking back I would have done it differently. I would have stuck to our original getting married at the beach club, ceremony in the sand, I would have just done my flowers in all hydrangea kept it simple lol..when it's all said and done it was beautiful but I think I changed a lot of what I had for other people. Oh well!!!

oh ppl ate the seafood bar dont get me wrong, and VH too. Its something we had alot of ppl tell us they enjoyed. My whole point is that i could've saved myself the money bc honestly i think its something that if its not there ppl dont realize and theres so much food to begin with that they already have a ton of options. I mean im glad ppl did enjoy it bc it did go but eh there were other things too they would've been satisfied with and nobody would've even noticed we didnt get it lol

We added the percussionist and I totally didn't remember it! That's what happened with me. I think it may have been the next day...I was like, 'OMG, was the percussionist there?' He was like, 'Yeah, he was great!!' I don't regret it, but I don't really remember it.

Re: Looking back on your big day....

we kept everything at such a minimum....everything we had was used and adored

the only thing i guess that didnt live up to its name was the church programs...basically no one took them or even opened them...which i figured would be the case which was why i didnt go crazy with them. but our parents saved them--& thats all that matters

Re: Looking back on your big day....

I think I was actually very specific with what I wanted (maybe TOO specific. lol). People told me that i just had to have wedding programs and birdseed or bubbles to be thrown. I knew that neither would be important so I skipped them and thank God for that. It woulda been way too much stress on me!!

The signature frame was obnoxious though. Barely anybody signed it. What a waste. At least I didn't spend TOO much on it

Re: Looking back on your big day....

I HAD to have black and white cookies served with the cake (b&w theme). Well someone from here in NY brought them to FL for me and I don't think anyone even ate the cake-much less the darn cookie...I did take a bite though, out of appreciate for her efforts!!

But I will say-all the other things we reeeally wanted (and there weren't too many) were definitely noticed and appreciated (violinist, framed pics of family weddings, luggage tag favors/seating cards, gobo light, cigar roller, OOT beach bags filled with goodies, fan programs etc). So I don't regret any of those...
