Looking for restaurant ideas

Looking for restaurant ideas

My husband`s birthday (1st since we`re married) is coming in a couple of weeks and I`m looking for ideas for restaurants. I`m thinking I`d like something romantic where the tables aren`t crammed on top of eachother.

I don`t really have a specific area in mind, but would probably prefer to stay in the areas of Commack, Dix Hills, Deer Park, Babylon, Bay Shore, Islip.

All suggestions are welcome. Please share your favorite restaurants and, if you can, tell a little about the place too.

Thanks so much!!

I am a huge food snob, so you can rest assured that these restaurants are CLEAN! : )

My 2 favorites on Long Island are Roberto's, on Jericho Tpk in East Northport (or maybe it's in Commack... it's very close to the border), and Casa Rustica in Smithtown (also on Jericho). I love both of these restaurants because I'm very picky about Italian food, having grown up in a very Italian family, and they are the very best I've found (and believe me, I've looked!).

Now, if you feel up to an adventure in the city, I love El Cantinero (Mexican). I'm not exactly sure of the address, but I know it's on 11th St. in the vicinity of 3rd Ave. It's very low key and relaxed, and best of all, inexpensive! : ) My #1 favorite in the city is Asia De Cuba, which is a combo of Asian and Cuban food. It is truly yummy!! The restaurant is on Madison Ave. (bet. 37th & 38th Sts.)

How about Mazzi in Huntington Station on Jericho Tpk.? It is in a really cute old house, the food is superb, the service is also really great.

I was going to recommend Mazzi's too. Great food and ambiance. Also, Fredericks in Dix Hills/Melville. Another great place, also a renovated house, very romantic, one of my favorites!
