looking forward to the snow/more items up ..(long)
.,...so I can spend some time in the garage opening up more boxes of stored items!
I sympathize w/ the gal who posted that she hates to throw away- esp when it is a NEW item. I had almost all the stuff that was in my mom's breakfront..from when we were growing up.
About 2 months ago I finally got my own little china closet. Mission style (OF COURSE!),quarter sawn oak- custom made but Heck! I am worth it!
So, one weekend, my MIL came over, helped me unpack the stuff, hand washed all the items, and even arranged it for me! ( I can't design anything!) and it looks GREAT!.
Best part was that at that time I was in a 'ruthless' mode...and weeded out the stuff that we really would not use or had any sentimental value.
Wound up with 6 fancy drinking glasses which a co-worker loved to adopt.
Now, if anyone wants crystal candy dishes(we dont have a coffee tabel for this stuff), crystal wine glasses(w/a green diamond design- pretty but not our colors), Faberware open hearth, a practically new convection oven, 7-1/2 foot high antique Hall Mirror...let me know!
no reasonable offers refused! hehe

Hi Phyl;
Good for you about the china cabinet!!! You are worth it. Most of my wedding gifts were stored in the basement up until about 3 months ago (I was nesting!!!) then my husband who was sick of me cleaning so much bought me a beautiful handmade unfinished hutch. Boy was he happy when I stopped scrubbing the windows and started finishing the hutch and filling it with all the little treasures we got for our wedding! It still makes me happy when I look at the job I accomplished with that hutch even though I was 8months pregnant!

Phyl - mission style furniture
Have you seen Lexington Furniture's Bob Timberlake collections? One of them is Mission style and he does some nice pieces. Someone had posted the www.furniturelandsouth.com site and they have some of his things pictured, or you can go direct to www.lexington.com (I think that's their site)

Kate- HALL MIRROR
hi there-
All I have available are photos I took about 5 years ago when I still owened my childhood home...and it was up in my hallway. I grew up with it!
What style is it?? Victorian/gothic.
Frame is made of plaster that has aged to a siler/mercury sheen. 7-1/2 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
Has a pronouced top- with a large cornice there-
If I can get my hubby to scan the pics- I'd be happy to email them to you. (WE are waiting to get a serial hub for our UB ports so we can hook up the printer, scanner, and card reader for digi cam.)
my email address is [email protected]
Thanks for your interest! it is a great piece...but now I dont have any tall enough FREE walls in my home.
