Lopsided wedding - do I need any special seating arrangements?

Lopsided wedding - do I need any special seating arrangements?

Well, it looks like only my immediate family is going to be able to make it to the wedding. FH's extended family is coming and so are our friends...

Is there anything I can do with seating arrangements so that the whole floor doesn't look lopsided (i.e. no extended family on my end)...

I am not sure what to do, but invites have been out for about 3 weeks now, and nobody from my side has replied.

I'm sorry girl- we had the same thing but the other way around- I had 14 tables, FH had 2.. we just intermingled the tables and the seating for the ceremony- there were no 'sides'

you mixed friends and family tables? What about the age difference (we're in mid-twenties).

I have virtually no family and Luke had about 30-40 people so it was definitely lopsided in that sense. But I just did the seating based on the people at the table (those who would dance got seated closer to the dance floor, older people got seated closer to the bathroom, etc..) rather than sides for each family.

You cant do very much at the church. For whatever reason, it was was pretty even during my ceremony but I dont really remember that too much.

We kind of had a lopsided wedding. We only had about 100 people and I would say about 75 were from my side. We didn't do 'sides' either. It worked out well. By the time we placed the parent's tables, BP tables and put all of our 'dancing' friends near the dance floor, the room kind of arranged it self. We just filled in randomly and intermingled tables of his and mine. Even though our friends didn't know each other we put them at tables next to each other since they would be the party crowd. Other older relatives/family friends we just dispersed around the room.

Dont feel the need to have his side and yours if it makes you uncomfortable. The whole day is about two families coming together anyway!

Can you put some of yours & your husband's friends' tables on your side of the room to make it more balanced?

I had about 230 people at my wedding, about 60 people were my guests and the rest were DHs, very unbalanced. To be more obvious DH is Indian and I am Irish, so you could easily see how uneven it was LOL! Our room was a large rectange, with 2 rows of tables, what we did was put all his friends/neighbor tables on 'my side' and his family on his side. It worked out fine, and people were too busy having fun to even notice! At the church people just sat wherever. Dont worry about to much, the guest will having too much fun to notice!

Ask friends to please sit on your side at the Church- that will help even things out. Also, just intermingle the tables at the reception.
