Lost my engagement ring and wedding band

So 2 weeks ago I lost a diamond in my wedding band, so I bring the ring to my jeweler and drop off my engagement ring with it. I wanted him to change the band on my engagement ring to match with the wedding band. So for the past 2 weeks I have felt naked without my rings. I go today to pick up the rings and I'm waiting for them for about 30 minutes. I tell DH that I think they lost the rings and he is like 'No I dont think so' Sure enough they tell me they cant find the rings but to come back cause they are going to look for them and he says if I cant find themhe is going to replace them with a better ring. We go to my MIL to eat and the jeweler calls me and says 'can you come to the store' (so now I have this scared feeling). We walk in and he tells us that they looked every where and he dont know where they are, he says that he dont want to lose us as customers and wants to make me happy, so he shows me another engagement ring and wedding band and tells me to try them on, they fit and its alot bigger than mine. He tells me that he is going to give me this set to keep until he finds mine and if he cant find mine I can have this. Now mind you the set he gave me to use is $9,000, my ring was not even $3,000. The jeweler who lost the rings has to give the owner $6,200 for the difference . Its such a beautiful set but its not MINE. The jeweler apologized about 1000 times and wanted to make sure I was happy and not upset and I told him that I was upset because they werent the rings that DH picked out for me and there was nothing that I could do, so he told me that they were going to keep looking for mine and if he found them he would call me. So my day pretty much ****** I hope everyone else had a better day than me.

That stinks!!! But at least they are trying to do something to make it up to you. Could they order another set like yours for you?

The ring that he gave me is pretty much similar to mine but it is bigger and the center stone is round and mine was a princess cut. I think thats why Im not so upset because it is similar to mine.

oh noooo i'm so sorry to hear this - but it could be worse...they could just not compensate u at all and that would be even more aweful, so try & look at the bright side of it all if u can. But i totally hear you...it's the whole sentimental & sacred thing about ur rings. I do know you can take them to a priest & have them blessed - and even do the ring exchange. My SIL did this when her & my brother got new rings...that may make u feel better about the situation.. again i'm so sorry... hugs

Im sure it doesnt make the situation better but it could be worse-they could have nto given you anything ***** but its the truth. Were you rings insured? If so i would call the insurance company and see what they say about a jewelry store losing your rings

I hope they'll be able to find it! I'm very sentimental about my rings and would feel terrible if they were missing. But on the positive side, you have rings to wear now so at least they didn't try to turn you away with nothing. Good luck.. I really hope it shows up!!!

Oh man does that really suc$. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you and your DH. I hope the jewlery is able to find your original set. I would contact him/her and let him/her know that you are still not satisfied with this replacement. If you happen to have a picture of your set bring it in so they can do a better job on duplicating the set and to keep so they can identify your set. Best of luck .
