Lots of vacation photos inside!

Original post by Sonicstef

Ignoring the fact that I feel like a beached whale in some of these photos, we got some good ones.

Here are my favorites:

Our Ship

Us putting our feet on our balcony (yes we upgraded and lots of my photos are all about that balcony which was so cool!!)

Another one from the balcony.

Reflection of me and sunset from you-guessed-it, the balcony!

Royal Promenade of the ship.

Luke wins $94 at Bingo!

Luke kicks the rockwalls a$$!

Rockwall kicks my a$$! Only make it halfway before insisting on being lowered down with waves of panic rushing over me. Notice 5 year old boy in background who adeptly flies up the wall as scared lady wants to come down :D

Towel Animals!

Luke looking very cute.

Luke pointing to our room.

Underwater with stingrays!

I think it likes me!

Dont know how this one happened but I think its kind of cool.

First I have to say you guys are such a cute couple!!!!

I would love to go on a cruise - what was the age gropu like? Did you get sea sick at all? How many days did you go for?

Re: Lots of vacation photos inside!

I really like to cruise provided its on a new ship with a major line. Trips do not get more relaxing than this - you get up, walk to whatever you want to do, have your room right there when you want to change, you go to a nice dinner everynight and then entertainment afterward and so on. On this ship, there was so much to do and its so large, you dont feel confined at all.

Believe it or not, I enjoyed our days on the boat more than the days in port. For one, all the Carribbean ports are pretty much the same to me. Same crappy merchandise to be sold with high pressure tactics and beautiful beachs. Webe been to the Carribbean so many times that its not a new thing - just a relaxing thing.

THe ports were visited were:
Labadee - Royal Carribbean's private island which was really nice. Just this big island with a few different beachs that is just your ship. The serve lunch and drinks at a few places so its really a fun day of sun worshipping.

Grand Cayman - We did the stingrays there.

Ochos Rios Jamaica - We had spent a week there not too long ago so we didnt get off the ship. That is the day we did the rock climbing and got a massage and a bunch of other stuff on the ship when the boat was nearly empty.

Cozumel - I wanted to Snuba but that was sold out so we just walked around a bit.

Stingrays will sting if they feel threatened. The thing with these guys is that they are so used to people and associate them with food, that they do not feel at all threatened by humans. But if you were to hurt them by smashing their tail with your foot or something, they would sting. Its not fatal for humans but our tour guide told us it hurts like nobody's business for days.

Margaret: The age group was mixed. Honeymooners to families to seniors. We stayed mostly to ourselves so I cant say too much about it.
7 days
No seasickness at all.

Alina: I got the shoes at this little store across from my job back in Sept. They are such crappy shoes I figured they would be looking aweful by now but I wear them all the time!

Shamma: Yes, those are all stingrays. And yikes - you do have an eye for shoes! No, thats not our room.

Stef, thanks for the reply... You've convinced me to go on the cruise one of these days... I guess my shoe search must continue...

What color eyes will your children have

Stef, I liked those, that is why I noticed and remembered them

Re: Lots of vacation photos inside!

I wear them to every event now....they are pretty comfortable and go with everything :D Who knew?

Anyone know anything about genetics...i have blue eyes but my mother had dark brown eyes. Luke has green eyes but his mother has brown eyes. So where does that leave our kids?

Stef: We're doing our first cruise for our honeymoon. FH is all bent out of shape about the clothes situation. Do you mind a few questions?

Did you have to do the formal nights? (He's worried that he won't be able to have tux dry cleaned in time) And what kind of clothes can you wear in the restaurants? FH wants to know if jeans acceptable at some, or slacks.

Thanks!

Love the porthole pics! And the rays reminded me of our honeymoon

You both look like marriage agrees with you (and life is treating you well!)

Re: Lots of vacation photos inside!

Cl: Dont mind questions at all...but I think it really depends on the cruise line as they are all slightly different. What ship are you going on?

In my case:

Did you have to do the formal nights? - You dont have to do anything...if you prefer not to get dressed up for the formal nights there are several more casual dining alternatives.

Tux - If you are willing to part with $90 or so, you can rent a tux right on the ship. If we hadn't splurged on the balcony Luke would have done that so he didnt have to pack a suit.

And what kind of clothes can you wear in the restaurants? The dining rooms ask that you be dressed smart casual on all of the nights and formal on the formal nights. Smart casual would include nice pants or dresses, etc for the women and button shirt and slacks for the men. Formal is at minimum a shirt and tie, preferably a jacket for the men but you will see lots of people in tuxes. Women is dresses and formal gowns.

The other alternatives are the ultra casual buffet style room where you can pretty much wear whatever you want within reason.

Our ship had a few other places you could eat as well - those were smart casual every night.

Keep in mind that even on the most formal night, you will see some people flagrantly violating the dress code. Since the dress code is only 'suggested' rather than mandatory, the ships dont really enforce it well...so if you are bold you can just wear what you like - they wont throw you off the ship :D

Great pics Stef! Thanks for sharing -- where did the cruise leave from? Did you get airfare through the cruise line or did you do it on your own?
