I actually don't mind housework but the past 2 days I have gutted my closets and cleaned out 3 huge black garbage bags of clothes to give to goodwill. Sad cause soo much still has tags on them.
It's crazy what you can accumulate in a short time. I still have quite a bit to do as I want to get cute little boxes to store stuff and make everything look ultra neat.
Have to say though I feel much better about everything. Not exactly how I wished to spend my days off but it just had to get done. Till the end of august besides a wknd in A/C and our vaca to Florida I have no other time off.
Semi-vent over
Question- how do you keep your bills and such organized? I need a new organization method for filing documents and past bills. Should I just scan and keep documents on the computer or still keep paper copies?
Thanks!

Re: Love/Hate relationship with....
I bought a large filer.......A to Z and at the end of every omonth I put every thing where its supposed to go. I keep everything in it-titles to the cars, insurance paperwork, payroll checks, taxes, etc. this way if for any reason I need it it is all in one place.
Also, we bought filers for incoming mail, all bills go in one, garbage goes in garbage and misc. goes in another. I am either the most organized person or the worst and t his has really kept me on top of everything

i have a file drawer just for bills...each one has its' own folder...so let's say one for Amex, one for MasterCard, one for Health Insurance...car payments, etc...after a year i will go thru & throw the old ones out.
I have a small wire paper organizer on my desk that i put all bills that are due...so they are in my face & i don't forget to pay them...HTH!

great- thats what i need to get, I keep files but I am bad with putting them in there. However, I have made a pact w/ myself to make sure I get better about things like this. My biz stuff I keep good track of but not personal. I am determined to get our stuff together.
I have been keeping some of Vin's payroll stubs but I did shred some. How important are they and how long do you have to keep them?

Re: Love/Hate relationship with....
I've actually opted to not get a paper copy of most of my bills. Most accounts are accessible through the internet and you can always go back and look at past statements if need be.
I was THE WORST w/ keeping bills and other mail to a minimum and it was just too much. Every couple of months I'd be in front of the shredder w/ a pile of papers!!
For important stuff like passports, birth certificates, car titles, house deed, etc. I have an A-Z filer. I'm going to buy a fire box to keep that stuff in. I keep forgetting to buy it.

I love my house after it has been cleaned. Every 2 months I organize all the closets and we somehow always have at least 2 bags of clothes for the church. I have to sneak out dh's ugly shirts .
For our bills I bought a file box. It has been the best thing ever. The mess in the office is gone now. Each credit card, bank account, house bill (LIPA, water, oil, mortgage) has its own folder. I also file away receipts for house work and anything else that should be kept for a tax write off. I keep all of the bills and statements for a year. When I pay the Visa bill for this August I will shred the one from last August. I then put the bill in the folder in month order.

I feel house cleaning and laundry are the root of all evil.
With that said, Im making the long walk down to my laundry room now {{sad music playing in the background}}

YES - I have one of these too! We also have a desk drawer but its very packed. I do need to go through and weed things out a bit (bils).
It does feel good to clean the closet and reorganize. I find myself doing that every other month but somehow it still gets messy and crazy in there! BTW DH's closet is the neatest cleanest thing I have ever seen. Makes me look like such a pack rat!

Great ideas ladies- I will go to target tomorrow on my break and get some things. I usually go through things in a bit more of a timely fashion but I have been crazy with work for the past 5 months and kind of neglected the closets and the paperwork stuff.
I am actually quite OCD about the rest of the house so this makes me feel soooo much better knowing it's done well almost I have just a little bit left to do- which shall get conquered the rest of the day.

They really arent that important-b/c the next one will still give you the information that you need. Ikeep them to keep track of what I pay toward our insurance, etc. I usually toss them every 6 months

This is basically what I have except it has a handle on it
