How long does it take to recieve your marriage license in the mail? Our rabbi sent it out almost three weeks ago and I'm starting to think maybe i should call the Clerks office to ask whats the status of our license.

Re: Marriage License question
Ours only took a few weeks. It was waiting for us when we got back from our honeymoon.

Re: Marriage License question
Ours was there when we got home from our Honeymoon, about 12 days after our wedding date. It usually takes under one month, I would call the town hall in your area that you went to just to see if they sent it out as of yet, they will be able to tell you. If not they will send you out another one. Good Luck, Dont worry, Im sure its on the way!!

Re: Marriage License question
I can't remember exactly.....but I think it took about a month maybe? I'd give it a good 6 weeks, and then I'd call......don't forget that this is the busiest wedding season of the year, so things may take a little bit longer.

Our's was witing for us when we returned from out HoneyMoon, so figure two weeks. If you don't get it soon, call the Rabi to confirm when it was definitley sent out.

Re: Marriage License question
Milana call the town!!! NOW! I didnt get mine and only just straightened the whole issue out. They say 2-3 weeks...call this way if they havent received it you can get a duplicate! You have to GET the duplicate within the same 60 day period as the original-if you dont you will have to choose another date!!! DO IT dont wait

Re: Marriage License question
I was married the week before you and still haven't received mine either. After reading this post I got worried and spoke with my officiant. She gauranteed me that she mailed it the next day. So I called town hall and they told me they never received it - it's not in the computer I told them it was definately mailed and she then looked 'somewhere else' and comes back to the phone saying ' oh no-we did receive it and I mailed it to you-must have gotten lost' So, it went from she never received it to she has it and already sent it. In the end, she is mailing me a new copy! I would call if I were you because they just told me it should only take 2 weeks to receive it.

Thanks for the advice! I just called them and im not in their system and my Rabbi claims to have sent in the marriage license a few weeks ago. I do not know what to do i am thinking it got lost in the mail. What should I get a duplicate of, our marriage certificate from the clerks office or our marriage license from the rabbi? I have a copy of the license that the rabbi gave me at our wedding is that what you mean? I really dont want to change our date.

Re: Marriage License question
The town will not take a copy, go in and tell them when you got married, they should be able to pull the license # up on the computer by DHs last name, ask them for a duplicate copy so that you can have it signed by the rabbi. YOu will have to once again get it signed by all, Rabbi, and witnesses and send it to them...if you want to be safe send it return receipt yourself. I hand delivered mine b/c its been a fiasco! I just did this tuesday!!!
As long as you receive the duplicate copy before the 60 day period is over then you can take your time...our 60 days was up in June and I could still bring it in, it just has to be dated in that 60 day period.
I know it will work out for you! They claim this never happens...but its been a CRAZY wedding season with 777 brides so its going to happen. Its easily fixable

Oh okay i see what you mean. My 60 day period will be up within two weeks from now so i need to get moving with this thing. Im in California and highly doubt they would fed-ex me my marriage certificate b/c on their website it says you need to appear in person for a duplicate. Why do i need to live across the country But thank you so much b/c of you im going to get moving with this thing!!

Call the town that you got the original from, they may allow you to send someone in your place to get a duplicate copy, you may need to have a letter notarized by you and DH in order to do it but that will save you ALOT of aggravation.

Re: Marriage License question
Milana-what town hall did you go to? I went to the one in Massapequa and the same thing happened to me-receipt of the license from my reverend was not recorded in the computer. I spoke with a supervisor who just happened to find it-probably sitting in a heap of papers on her desk-so if I were you I would call back and make sure it isn't sitting around somewhere like mine was.

I went to Manhattans town hall. I actually called them today and somehow miracously they found it and said they will mail it out today by 3pm! THANK GOD because yesterday i was told they never received it and like oyu mentioned It was probably just sitting around somewhere on a stack of papers also!
