Marriage license question again

Marriage license question again

So, I finally go my marriage license back from the town, so thanks to all of you who said that the priest would send it in.

But, what happens to the one that my maid of honor and best man signed? I thought that was what we would get back, I'd love to have it.

Can anyone shed some light on the process?

the state keeps the one w/ the signatures and you get a certificate w/ a seal on it to use to change your name w/ DMV, SS, the bank, etc

Re: Marriage license question again

What your MOH and BM signed was your marriage license. They sign it as witnesses that the marriage ceremony took place.

It's then sent to the State and they send you your marriage certificate. This is proof that you got married.

Think of it this way, your marriage license is like your Driver's permit and your marriage certificate is like your Driver's license. Once you have your marriage certificate/Driver's license, you no longer need your marriage license/Driver's permit.
