Menu Poll

Hello Newlyweds!!!

Could you let me know what would you rather eat as a guest?

For the Appetizer:
Mozzarella/Tomato/Grilled Veggies over greens w/ Honey mustard vinaigrette
or
Fresh Melon with Exotic Berries

For the Main Course: A plate with all of the following- no choice - Roasted Filet Mignon Entrecote/Chicken Roulade/Shrimp Glace (I have no idea what these mean - all I get out of it is steak/chicken/shrimp)

Or a choice between
Filet Mignon& Chicken Francaise (together) or Poached Salmon.

Also, what is better, Chicken Francaise or Marsala...

As you can tell I'm trying to pick my menu (tonight - yikes!) and my brain is turning to MUSH!

Re: Menu Poll

I like the salad and I would prefer to have a choice of the entree, rather than a mix of everything

Here are my thoughts
For the Appetizer:

Do you have a lot of vegatairans coming to your wedding? If so then the first choice is NOT a good idea, unless they can get a full fish meal instead. But if 99.9% of your guests eat fish and meat then I say do the non-choice plate.

I don't understand the beef/chicken combo exactly. Do they not allow you to do a beef, chicken and fish choice?
I like chicken marsala- but that is a personal choice. Both are pretty good.

I'd go for either appetizer.

Entree .. I'd like a choice.
I agree w/Michele about the vegetarian issue, but I'd DEFINITELY ask them about a separate vege option that can be offered upon request.

I don't understand the combo thing either. Why not just select from the following three choices? See if they can split it up. I don't know many people who would go for beef and chicken on the same plate. Most chicken eaters are looking for something plain & simple.

Good luck!

Melon plate...and a choice. Some people dont like/are allergic to shrimp - simply having it on the plate touching the other food might ruin it for them.

Re: Menu Poll

HI!! Yes, they either put it all on one plate that they call 'De Gustacion Entree' (steak/chicken/shrimp). Everyone gets all three.

Or you could choose 'Combinazione' which has 5 different steak/chicken meal combos to choose from. However, I have to choose 1 combo beforehand, all 5 are not presented to the guests the day of) Along with the Combinazione, they offer Poached Salmon as the second choice.

I've heard rumor that you can get 2 orders of steak or 2 orders of chicken, but only if the guests request this. They don't advertise this option. There are also Vegetarian and Kosher meals available upon request.

Although I would eat the first choice of entree, I would definitely go with your second choice. I think it is better for more people. Some people have serious reactions to having fish (even shrimp) on their plate!

I seriously considered John Anthony's and they had told me if the person requested all steak or all chicken they would do that.

I like Chicken Marsala better - but agree they are both good.

Also, definitely the salad combo for appetizer.

Hey Paiz!! It's been a long time since we've talked! Hope all your planning is going well .. can't believe how quickly your date is coming!! Just keep reminding yourself 'don't sweat the small stuff.'

Anyway .. as for the menu .. boy, do I remember going through what you're going through. Our choices were a bit different .. but really pretty similar, if that makes sense.

We chose the 'Over Greens' for cold appetizer.

For main course, we did the combo plate .. filet mignon and chicken bosciola (something like that, I think .. didn't want to do the typical .. but didn't want to go too outrageous either).

I loved the idea of the tri-plate .. but just didn't know how well it would go over because of food allergies and the whole red meat thing .. and was talked out of it .. looking back though, it might not have been a big deal, especially if we did menus. I really do believe that most people will speak up if they have special requests, and I'd find it hard to believe a place like John Anthony's would refuse to try to satisfy a guest.

As for guests making requests for the combo plate .. it was done at our reception .. my husband got a double of filet mignon, instead of filet-chicken. Again, I think if your guests are not afraid to speak up, they'll get what they want .. and I would think people who have special needs will not hesitate. I think the reason JAs doesn't have the staff asking everyone if they'd like to make substitutions is simpy just to speed the dinner process along and get everyone fed to maximize the amount of time people can have fun .. think about it .. how much time is wasted on ordering when people are given choices to think about!
