We went through them & made a pile or YES, NO, MAYBE. Then we marked the backs of all the YES & MAYBE. When we went in for our appt to make our album the staff was really helpful in helping us cut down, and picking the right ones. We ended up paying for two or three extra pages, and were able to put as many extra photos as we wanted.
We made piles based on events (ie ceremony, cake cutting, toasts, bridal party pics, etc). Then we went through each pile and took out ones we didn't like or had one of us blinking or something. From that we picked the one from each event we liked most. I felt this gave a nice representation of the day.
