MIL Made me so mad.....

It was my MIL birthady the other day, and hubby and I got her tickets to see the Christmas Spectacular. She said she would like to go see it.
Well, we got them for her in November, GREAT seats....
Hubby asked, because she is NOT one to express whether she likes the gift or not. She doesnt make a face, well anyway he asked he if she liked it, and she said yes, but what if it snows...in a snotty way. Why couldnt you get them sooner

I thought it would be nice closer to the holidays. I was ready to say, well, then I will teke MY PARENTS if you dont like them.
I LOVE my MIL, but she sometimes PI$$ES me OFF

Would you be annoyed??

That would definitely annoy me.

Some people just don''t realize they''re doing it, but they tend to be negative thinkers. Instead of being excited and grateful for the tickets, her first thought was 'what if it snows?' Yikes. It''s got to be horrible to go through life always thinking the worst, even before you let yourself have any happiness or excitement at all.

Try not to take it personally. It''s obviously just her way. Be happy you''re not like that!

Anytime someone does not seem grateful for a thoughtful gift, it really upsets me too! I don''t blame you for feeling pissed, Diane.

And, JMO...but, SO WHAT if it snows??? I''m sure that won''t stop the show from going on in NYC! Is she kidding? I doubt we''d have 3 ft. of snow in November - hello, it''s 70 degrees outside right now!

Ungrateful, don''t say thanks then add a BUT, that''s like giving a compliment and taking it back. Not nice at all. You have all right to feel how you feel. Just say thanks and keep your thoughts to yourself. She sounds like the type of people that has to find something wrong in something no matter how perfect it is. You and hubby should not feel bad, you guys gave it with good intentions. As long as she does not let them go to waste, you guys have done your part.

Oh MIL''s , I just don''t understand the drama that follows them. Mine exhasts me. She complains about every gift, or if she liks it she will only thank DH as though he had anything to do with it

You got them for the perfect time! I wouldn''t even give it another thought. You did a nice thing for her and I would just move on. Some people do not know how to express thanks in the proper way.

That was not very nice of her to be that ungrateful. If it were my MIL she would go in a heartbeat, neither rain, snow, nor sleet would stop her...LOL

What did your husband have to say about her attitude towards the gift?

I hear you! I made the STUPID mistake of calling my MIL from bed bath and beyond last week b/c his dad is into gadgets but has just about everything so I called to ask what he has doesnt have/needs
bottom line is she tells me every time they go to BBB he looks at this SMOOTHIE machine and wants it so I finally find two of them... one is white and one stainless steel one is 40 and the other 50
so I say Oh, I found it the white.... blah blah blah
oh no she says is it stainless steel? I said no its white and a smoothie machine! she says he only wants the stainless steel!! and asks me if I have a coupon!

UGH
whats the difference if its white or stainless its b/day gift! thats what I get for calling
never again! for now on I buy whatever

First of all, by getting them in November there is probably a lower chance of it snowing then in December or January. She should be grateful that you even got the tickets at all. You are a wonderful daughter in law and that was a wonderful gift!
