I'm going to choose the menu & linens next week for my mom's party and would love your recommendations!!
We're choosing a beef, chicken and fish (no surprise there ), so tell me what's good!!
Also choosing the cake. I assume it's a sheet cake, not the 5 tier job and I'd love suggestions on that, too!!
Lastly, I know they have a beautiful 'undercloth' which is burgundy, green, pink, etc. Is that the only one they have? We want to go w/ ivory linen, but I can't remember if the top cloth is only white (and not available in other colors). It would look silly, IMO if we had ivory napkins on white cloths, with a multi-colored undercloth.
Thanks so much!!

Re: Milleridge Brides... I need suggestions!!
Hi Kathi-
Is this party at the Milleridge Inn restaurant, Cottage or Carriage House? I was told the restaurant kitchen is run separately from the Cottage and Carriage House, which is the catering side. If it's the catering side, I can tell you what we did. First the linens: at the Cottage they only offered white pink or green linens. We went with all white, which looked very pretty with the centerpieces and candles but then it was a wedding. The food we chose was the steak (sirloin? strip? I can't recall now but the other beef choice was prime rib and we didn't choose that). I had the steak at the wedding and loved it. Chicken, I asked them to make Chicken Francaise, which was delicious at the food tasting and my SIL told me it was at the wedding too. And fish was salmon with a mustard type dressing. Appetizer we chose the spinach crepe which was very yummy and different from the usual stuff you see.
The cake no doubt is from their bakery so that's all the same, wedding or not. We got vanilla cake with chocolate pudding filling and buttercream icing. I totally don't remember if it was good but I was told it was (oops we never thawed out the stuff in the freezer for our first anniversary)
I don't know if this helps but if you have any other questions, I will try to wrack my brain to remember (March 2001 seems like eons ago!)
Is this a surprise party for your Mom?

Thanks, Elizabeth!
It is a surprise (so far) for my mom's 65th birthday/retirement! My 7 siblings and I are planning it - well, I'm planning it! We're having it in the Carriage House with about 80 guests.
Thanks for the menu suggestions. I'm going to call the banquet manager today to ask about the linens again! I just can't remember what she said! LOL
Hope you're feeling well!
Thanks again, Kathi

Kathi,
This is so cool what you're doing for your mother! I've been trying to think of something extra special to do for my mom's birthday, and/or my parent's anniversary .. it's the same day .. Christmas Eve!! Anyway, don't know what I want to plan for them yet, I was thinking about something like what you're doing .. but now I'm leaning to something more quiet for just the two of them .. not sure yet. My mom never lets us treat them to anything, and I hate that she doesn't think she needs to go to a salon when she can just go to a local Lemon Tree. (Nothing against Lemon Tree .. it's more that I would love to see my mom pampered). I just feel like even to this day my mom, and dad, have made sacrifices for us, and I would love to give them an extra special day all their own.
Happy planning with your mother's party!! (Shhhh!!)

Re: Milleridge Brides... I need suggestions!!
Thanks, Kel!! You already know how I feel about my 'mommy' She rocks!!!! Oh lordy, don't get me started.
Anyway, we're all so thrilled that we're able to do this for her. We're pulling out all the stops, too!! Dress shopping, hair & makeup, photographer, DJ, photo montage, favors...everything we can do to make this the most important day in her life!! (aside from getting married, giving birth to 9 kids, graduating nursing school...LOL) Hey, it'll still be spectacular!!
That's so nice that you're thinking about something great to do for your mom (and dad), too. If she's not into a big party, how about a nice vacation for her and your dad? Or, better yet, a vacation w/ her kids and grandkids??! A spa day would be great, too. I like the idea of that...maybe you could go w/ her and share in the gift?!
Part of my mom's gift is a family trip to Montreal next summer (w/ all 19 of us...kids, spouses and grandchildren!!) She'll love that more than the party and digital camera!! LOL
I'm getting so excited about it now. Invites are going out next week!!
