We ventured out to Mineola on Sat. Can anyone tell me about the area? It looked nice but I am afraid that it is very congested being so close to the Roosevelt Field Mall area?? Any info would be appreciated.
I don't know much about it, however I was looking in Floral Park and a real estate agent showed us two home in the Mineola area. I thought it looked very nice. Don't worry about the Roosevelt Mall that is in Garden City which is one of the nicest towns I've seen.
Where do you live now?
Make sure you look into the schools (even if you don't have kids - it's very important for re-sale value.
I am from Mineola(currently residing in Fl). It is a really nice place. I lived about 3 minutes from RF. The only major traffic prob in that area is Old Country Rd. and Glen Cove Road. you would not want to travel on these roads from Nov to January. But there are so many back roads you can take, you could practically get around while completley avoiding those 2 roads. The schools are good. They is a very disticnct mix of students. Richard Dreyfuss actually just used the HS in a movie he is shooting. It is close to everything. You`re only 20 minutes from Queens or Suffolk county. So it`s pretty centrally located. If there is anything else you want to know please feel free to ask.
Okay I never heard that term used. What area do you mean. There is the main park by the library or the Mineola Pool Park? Or is it something totally different?
The central location and commute are important to us. We will have to check out the school situation. The area around Memorial Park by the Library is what we saw. Can you tell me how far that is from the LIRR? Is it walkable - we couldnt find the train station when we were driving around.
The Train Station is on Mineola Blvd one block over from the Hospital. It's about 3/4 of a mile, maybe a little less from the Park. It's walkable.
When we briefly looked for houses in the area, the papers referred to the Park Section as the area near the park and library.
