Does anyone know if we will have problems depositing checks with our last name spelled wrong?
So far I've come across a few with the name wrong...and from family too, awesome. I'm hoping that this won't be a problem since clearly it was intended for us? Did this happen to anyone else, and if so, what was the outcome?

Re: Misspelled Names
I actually had some one (who was not family) write their OWN last name instead of ours! Let's say his name was Jones, he wrote Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jones instead of Rubino... Our teller was a bit overwhelmed I think because we had well over 50 checks to be deposited at once and she did not even notice. How far off is the spelling??

It's not too far off....one is an 'e' where it should be an 'a' and the other one an 'a' is missing all together...I guess this is what happens when you have 6 vowels in your last name

Re: Misspelled Names
haha I bet you they wouldn't even notice. Honestly I would go to the bank like nothing and if they say something I would play dumb. I know banks have to be careful but what are the chances that check was actually meant for someone else and it got in your hands, you know?

Yeah, I think you should be OK Ali. I know a few of the checks that came from DH's side were misspelled to Marisa instead of Marissa, and it was fine.
Of course, DH's aunt still spells his name Nikolaus for some reason ... no idea why ... he's from a big Italian family and she is Italian ... but every single card/piece of correspondence we get from her is spelled this way!

The bank will probably just deposit it.

I doubt it. As long as its not completely off. Im sure the banks get that all of the time. They will deposit it & if there is something wrong tehy would expect the person from which teh check came from to dispute it.

Re: Misspelled Names
We didn't have any problems at all. Half our checks had the 'l' and 'e' switched on our new last name. Just sign them all and deposit as usual.
