Who here can tell me WHY it is $599 to stay on a Friday night?
it's 189 for Thursday night (which I still thought was a bit much...... but 599!!!!)
Am I missing something??? 599?? I mean.... it's Connecticut!! I'm not staying on some super elite resort in the Keys.

Is there a big concert that night? The weekends are the most expensive there, b/c thats usually when people go. And if there is a big performer, rates always skyrocket. You can stay at nearby hotels and they usually have shuttles that take you to and from the casino.

Try the Spa at Norwich Inn, right across the street. Then you can relax and get spa treatments!

it looks nice there.... actually ive stayed there years ago.
the cheapest room is 364 per night. I'm not looking to drop that much on a 2 night stay.

It's very nice, but not worth that $$. There must be something big going on that weekend. You can stay at my mother in law's in Hartford and drive. She keeps the house at 85 degrees, so you and John will THINK you are in a spa...

EXACTLY my thoughts!!
john has a few days off.... we were going to go to Vermont to stay in a cabin originally... but those plans fell through. Now I'm looking for something else to do. Just a quick little getaway for a few nights.

Re: Mohegan Sun
ridiculous! we are going April 9th for Chelsea Handler and can not afford that absurdness, so we booked a nice room at Microtel http://www.microtelinn.com/MicrotelInn/control/home that provides a free shuttle to mohegun

We didn't go there for my bachelorette for that reason. We went to Foxwoods and had an excellent time! Check out the prices there. Much more reasonable.

Is it this weekend? Black Eyed Peas are there and that'll cause the prices to skyrocket!

Re: Mohegan Sun
Yeah it’s pretty crazy… if you do end up going there make sure you get a Players Card… even if you don’t spend a ton of money it helps the room rates go down a lot. (At least that’s true for Foxwoods, I haven’t been to Mohegan in a while.)

What about AC and stay at the Borgata? I bet it is reasonable this time of year, and if you catch a nice day can still walk by the water.

Did you look into Foxwoods? The new MGM is really nice there. Also, you are really close to Mystic and its a cute town to walk around, they also have a great aquarium.

Re: Mohegan Sun
Do you plan on doing any gambling while you are there? If you do, they might comp you a night based on your play when you use their slot card. Dh and I went up there a few weeks ago for the day. We took the Orient Point Ferry over. We received meal vouchers and free slot money so the ferry ride was pretty much free. Now we didn't spend a lot of money by far. We have received many different offers in the mail from money for food, to free weekday nights to slot money. I am not sure when you were planning on going, but take a day trip up there first a few weeks before and you might get some nice comps........
