***Monday NWQOTD***

Good Morning Girls and sorry I'm doing this late since I'm a loser

Since this all of our first married holiday season do any of you feel like you are scarificng doing things with your family/ friends because you and DH have to compromise on what to do??

I actually do not feel like I have to scarifice doing anything with my friends and family around the holidays. DH's mom lives down in Florida with his younger brother and sister. They come after Christmas to celebrate. His dad lives up state on a farm with 1 of his other sisters and her family. We don't see his dad too much (that's a whole other story). So for Christmas Eve and Christmas we are always with my family. DH only has 1 brother who lives on LI and is married to one of my best friends so we see them all the time! FYI DH is 1 of 7 and they are scattered all over.... our wedding was the first time in 8 years that EVERYONE in his immediate family was together!

This is the first year I am not going to be with my mother on Christmas Day as we'll be at DH's aunt's house in Pennsylvania, but I don't view it as a sacrifice. I view it as a good thing - my family is now bigger and I get to see them for the holiday!

Every other year we spend every holiday with DH's family because he alternates with his ex having his son on the holidays. It s ucks because this year we spend vevry holiday with his family. I definitley feel like a scrooge because Im not as into it as I would be if I got to spend it with my side of the family.

It ***** for us because DH's family is mostly in NJ so it makes it almost impossible to do both.
so like thanksgiving i didnt see my family at all! which i was sad about because it was my nephews first one! Christmas usually works out tho cuz luckly there are 2 days to play with! but its hard too cuz DH's parents are divorced! so we really need at least 3 days per holiday!

Yea, I kind of do feel like I have to sacrifice this year. This Christmas we will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at DH's family's house. Then we will go to my family the day after Christmas. This is going to be very hard for me since I am VERY close with my brother and sister and I hate not spending the holiday with them. They will all be together and I feel like I am missing out.

We have been splitting the holidays between the families way before we got married so this year is no different. We do Xmas eve with FIL, then Xmas morning at DH's Moms then head into the city to have Xmas in the 'hood' with my sis and parents.

We split it, Christmas Eve at my mom's house, Christmas day at DH's family.

Before we go to my family's on Xmas eve, we have to stop by DH's aunts first. Kind of a pain to be running around, but it's all good.

I don't feel like I have to sacrifice during the holidays... DH and I celebrate christmas eve with my family and christmas day with his. My family doesnt do anything on christmas day anyhow except eat alot and lounge around and we usually see them for dessert anyhow.

ETA: just found out my mom invited the inlaws over for christmas eve.. so looks like we all get to celebrate together in one place

It's always been hard for me since my mom and dad are divorced and we always have to split the holidays between them... even harder now since it's between 3 families!

My dad's family does Christmas Eve and so does DH's family... and one is in Queens and one is out in Suffolk so we can't even split the day.

I guess we're lucky that we have so many people we want to celebrate with, but still it's going to be hard since I prob won't see my dad for Christmas at all. I might invite some of them over to our apartment that weekend.

We are doing the same thing Cari. Are your sis and bro going to be there the day after. Thankfully for me my sis and bil will be there the day after to celebrate with us.

We are spending Christmas Eve at DH's Aunts house in Rockland county. Christmas day I want it to just be me and DH in our first apt together..and people can stop by if they wish to. I will see my fam the day after Christmas (my whole fam lives in ny and we see each other ALL the time so its no biggie to see them after)

I think I have it easier than others because DH's family lives in Florida so we always spend the holidays with my family. Last year his mom came up for the holiday and the first year we were together he went down for Christmas Eve and Chrismas and then I flew down the day after Christmas and we came home on NYE.

It works out well for us!!

Re: ***Monday NWQOTD***

Usually we spend Christmas Eve w/ my entire big Italian family at my aunt's house. Then we do Christmas Day w/ my parents, IL's, BIL, FSIL, and my uncle (my mom's brother) and his gf. This is a first year down in DC for the holidays. We weren't able to spend Thanksgiving w/ everyone b/c of DH's work schedule so that was kinda sad. Luckily DH has off for Christmas and the weekend so we will be heading to NY. I just hope we don't get stuck in too much traffic and can spend part of Christmas Eve w/ my family at my aunts. Christmas day will be the same as usual.
